WaPo: 'You Didn't Build It' Comment Damaging Other Democrats
President Barack Obama’s weeks-old comment that business owners “didn’t build that†by themselves is haunting him and fellow Democrats on the campaign trail.
Wherever Obama goes, a local paper or TV station seems to drag up the comment and get local entrepreneurs to trash his statement.
It happened in Colorado when Obama visited this week. “I did build my business, Mr. President, you didn’t,†Martin Mendez of Splash Publications told Denver’s CBS affiliate.
Uh, Martin Mendez, you didn't build SHIT without the help of your workers.
And if Government went away, what you did build would have been wiped out within days by criminal gangs.
Why aren't the Democrats blitzing the airwaves with this?

What if Mr. Mendez was the only employee in his business (which is true in a lot of cases)? Did he build it then?
And if Government went away, what you did build would have been wiped out within days by criminal gangs.
I'm sure if Mr. Mendez had some firearms or a large crescent wrench he could keep the democrats at bay, but good for you for knowing that democrats are essentially criminal gangs.

You didn't post that.
Some for-profit corporation built your computers.
Another corporation provided the retail outlet where you purchased it.
Yet another one provides the internet and power to keep you babbling like the idiot you are.
All of them paid the taxes that provided you the education to read and write (which you've apparently squandered) and the roads you traveled to school.
When will you be giving something back?
-
So this is the natural state for the liberal. Without government, they (and they assume everyone else) degenerate into mindless and violent savages.
Makes sense.

That is what I don't get about the left. They act as if everything that government does is created from whole cloth by the government alone. Almost like they do believe that the government is God. They neglect the fact that without taxpayers the government would be powerless to do anything.
-
I"m surprised they didn't succumb to the temptation to refer to Mr. Mendez as an Uncle Jose.
-
As usual, the DUmmies are mercilessly ripping the source and OP, while paying no attention to the point.

They didn't like or trust the government from January 2001- January 2009.

I took a little road trip up the interstate today. Of course major portions of the road were under construction. I just marveled at all the volunteers manning the machinery and shoveling the asphalt.
Is this a great country or what!
-
When will the liberals learn that socialism works as long as you don't run out of other people's money. Look at Greece for the modern day proof. *face palm*
The government didn't help with gump. The only thing the government helps with in a business is taxing them to death. Which is one of the main reasons so many of them leave the country.
-
Uh, Martin Mendez, you didn't build SHIT without the help of your workers.
As ChuckJ rightly points out, when businesses are born, it's usually just the one guy or gal, plus maybe a partner/spouse in it with him. It takes a lot of operating capital to be able hire, (hiring costs are sky-high, believe it or not, DUmmies. Just you try it.) The businessguy really did build that. Another businessguy built the road. And that godforsaken bridge you idiots keeping harping about. Taxes were extracted for all of it, so yeah, they build those too.
If all the thread is about is yapping about Newsmax, that's too boring to row over for. When all you've got is whining about sources, DUmbasses, you don't have an argument.
-
They try to use road construction and emergency services to justify their redistribution schemes. They can't even see their comparing fertilizer with herbicide.

They are (knowingly) comparing logical infrastructure to engineering social control. It suits their evil purpose and they think it will be easier for the mindless proles to grasp.

Uhh, DUmbshit? I got news for you. I'll bet the mortgage that Mr. Mendez was busting his ass and building his business YEARS before he ever hired a single soul. And even AFTER he started bringing on employees, I'll guaran-damn-tee you that none of them put in nearly as many hours in any given day/week/month/year as he was.
But then, considering that the closest thing you've ever had to a business was when yer mom asked you to empty the dishwasher before she gave you your allowance, I wouldn't expect you to understand this.

16. Losing argument
Business owners pay taxes that contribute to those commons.
Nobody from government was the one spending 18 hour days building the business.
All business owners understand that it is our government that makes their business possible and that it is the business owners hardwork and sacrifice that builds their business.
Trying to convince people to look at what their taxpayer dollars have given them instead of what their hard work has produced for them, is pointless.

20. It's not pointless...
People pay taxes to the government in exchange for services that benefit them. How is that a "losing argument?"

24. How?
Because business owners also pay taxes for those services.
AND
Because your are asking people to place hidden benefits ahead of the actual blood sweat and tears they actually experience.
You ever hear a ball player thanking Rawlings for making the ball they hit over the fence? Neither have I.
And kctim's moment of clarity is ignored.

1. Release the tax returns. Your concern is touching.
That story broke on 31 July. I haven't heard jack shit about this guy whining. I did hear about this idiot--who starred in a rMoney commercial--having his stupid comments shoved back at him, though:
He has released his current returns for the past 2 years, not to mention 4 years ago when he was running. Oh snap! Keep being a sucker for the leftwing media, DUmbasses. Like idiots. It fits you oh so well.
Romney has refused to release more than two years of tax returns, citing a precedent that is not very credible; he earned 3 Pinocchios for that claim. Most presidential candidates in recent years have released more than two years of returns, so Romney may be paying a political price for failing to release more.
But Romney’s 2010 return and his estimated 2011 return do show that he paid substantial taxes in those years. In 2010, he earned nearly $22 million, including $3 million in taxable interest, nearly $5 million in dividends and more than $12 million in capital gains. He reduced his taxes by giving $3 million in charitable contributions (much of it in appreciated stock, when shielded him from paying additional capital gains.)

Meanwhile that f'n jacka** Reid won't release ****. Probably because it'll show how he became a multimillionaire while only working in the private sector for 5 years of his pathetic life.
I'd personally like to thank the guy or gal, or whatever inanimate object that did this:

Businessman spells out beliefs for Romney campaign
The owner of Pasteur's Sports in Ocala contacted Republican Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, and on Friday a representative of the Republican National Committee came to the business to shoot video of McBride voicing his displeasure over the president's comments.
McBride, who has owned Pasteur's for six years, spoke candidly as Jill Bader, a representative of the RNC recorded his comments.
"When I heard the speech, I was kind of surprised by the president's passion, how he was sharing with the audience that small business really didn't build their businesses, which shows me he doesn't appreciate the small businessman. He takes us for granted," McBride said during the unscripted interview.
McBride later said he thought long and hard about making the public comments.
"This is something I have never done and more times than not would not consider... I feel I have to stand up and talk about it, and if it affects our business then so be it, but I don't think it will," he said.
McBride said he has owned businesses since he was 27, including a day care business. He said he enjoys having the freedom and flexibility of having a small business, even though it's a lot of hard work.
Pasteur's is a family-run business with McBride's wife, Pamela, and his son, Seth, actively involved in the day-to-day operations.
There are a few DUmmy comments there too...
So in other words your employees are your serf's there to do your bidding in and out of work??
and this one:
Apparently Mr. McBride didn't hear the Predsident's whole speech....don't be misinformed before you form opinions people.
Don't you just love the spin on the situation and then how anyone who disagrees with the spin didn't hear the president whole speech.

36. What's wrong with pointing out that businesses require workers to build them?
They're A) compensated employees, B) are expendable, and C) take ZERO risk?
F'n idiots. They didn't help build a company any more than my f'n landscaper helped make my house a home. His ass is paid to do that.

Pardon me, but I'm really getting tired of this type of ignorance. Hey McBride, where the hell have you been? This guy has two books written about how you are the enemy. It's not like it's some kind of f'n secret. These people need to wake the fk up. :censored:

To McBrides defence...at least at the start of the article he does claim to be an Independent...You know how they block out most of what they hear and only scrapes and piece filter through at times...And this was one of those times something actually got through...

Doesn't excuse his ignorance. People like him are why this country is so ****ed up right now, and I'm not beginning that with Obama. People need to stop being so damned apathetic when it comes to the operation of their government.

You make a good point Rebel, where the hell has he been, indeed. We saw it way back when with Joe the Plumber! Man, if you're in business, you'd better be wide awake, and brook no fantasies about what government can do to you. Attend the trade meetings, read the journals.
Oh, BTW. Back at the DUmmie thread, someone said, "keep mentioning the bridges, that'll make sense to people!" :lmao: :rotf:

Democrats need to frame the debate period. Keep talking about bridges and roads and people will understand.
People didn't used to immigrate here by the thousands for the roads and bridges, ****tard. ALL countries have roads and bridges.

Years ago when the news was all a buzz about how Governemnt wasn't able to or didn't help enough during Hurricane Katrina they couldn't stop bitching about how bad it was. Governemt was not moving fast enough and didn't help anyone Now they say that they want more of it? Which is it Douchebags? You either want the Governments help or not.

Okay, when I listen to the whole speech, I hear things like teachers and others who helped build the owner's business. Do they all work on roads and bridges in their free time? Because that's the context that we're supposed to be grasping.

That's what I said. I was amazed at the number of "volunteers" working to repave the interstate.

Well, actually, even with all the benefits of an enormous government, "mindless and violent savages" accurately describes much of the democrat base.

But wait. I just saw an ABC story online the other day reporting the Chinese are rebuilding our roads and bridges. Damn, the DUmmie is right. We do need to keep talking about that. :-)

The natural state of the lib is panic. There is always a crisis of this that or the other for the lib to panic to the tune of. During their panic you cannot trust the lib to act in a civilized way, they will scrape, and claw their way out of whatever is causing their panic, if it's fire they will push you into it to make their escape. If it is water, they will push your head under to make sure they can get their head and shoulders out of the water, at least until you drown, and they push the next victim under, man, woman, child, it matters not. You are all flotation for the drowning panicking lib. Stay out of the reach of the lib in their natural state of panic.
