Wow, for just the cost of a carton of cigarettes in NYC one can take a class in self defence and know the law----just knowing the laws is as important as skill in marksmanship.
Drivers Ed for example is more about knowing the laws then how to controll the car, that comes with practice
Same with gun ownership, the learning of the laws come first then on to the practice range.
We do have some ranges up here that hold 2-3 days classes in the laws and how to clean and handle a open or closed weapon. Then on to the practice range with instructors that fit a weapon for each student. One would not give a frail 80 year old a weapon that they have problem with holding the weight in just one hand.
You Texens may need more then CCW with the problem of the Mexican boarder, may need to train people in the use of assult rifles --------What ever happend to the Buffalo guns ?????

Trust me....here on the border, we're big into hunting. Those who don't want to be victims already have protection ready to go. Mainly either deer rifles or shotguns.
Maybe even an AR15 or SKS or two. :whistling:
That ad was classic.

Reading between the lines, I get what you are saying. Were I in your area I would give up a vacation or two and buy some good night scopes, dig up some holes and turn them into bear traps.
Darn why cannot people that own land out there run bear trap lines under the sand????? No big deal put up signs in 5 languages to say the land is a trapping area and wait for a fox, or mink that comes about to trap.
There are more ways to skin a cat other then trying to shoot them.

Amnesty International, the ACLU, LULAC, and La Raza Unida would be all over them if they set any kind of traps for them.
Unfortunately, ranchers hands are tied. There's not enough Border Patrol agents, and illegals have as many rights as we do right now.
Almost every sherrif in every border county says there is a huge problem, and it has to be stopped.
The ranchers I know are armed to the teeth. Just in case. And with the economy, many of them can't afford to keep up electric fences. :-)

So this is the Yankee speaking here. Put up signs that say you are digging looking for water. Caution water digging on here. So you have to dig in fifty spots you are doing nothing wrong, have advertised there may be open dry holes on the property. As long as you advertise dry wells and some one falls into the hole they are tresspassing .
Don't even have to dig these test wells, the idea that you may have done so will reroute the people from crossing your property.
Electric fences will not stop a human, they just dig under them.
About all I can think of other then that is to raise pit bulls. Head to Mexico and a thrift store and buy old shoes. Come back let the dogs get the scent of the shoes and beat the hell out of the dogs with the shoes.
Dogs will be fine with family but the first sniff of the shoes they will go in a pack out to eat up those with the smell.--- nothing like reading the Hounds of the Baskervills to give this idea.
Sorry pet lovers but when ones life depends on thinking outside the box---anything goes.

Lawsuits...lawsuits...and more lawsuits....and then OSHA steps in because you didn't have up barricades....and on and on it'll go.

Thanks, Reb.
You have no idea how bad it is down here.

We up north have no idea just how bad it for you on the border either. Sure we read about the problems and watch video's of the stuff on the news, but in reality [ours] it is so difficult to put our lives in that perspective.
Most if not all our WW1 vets are gone, those like my granddad that served on the Mexican border in Demming NM had some story's to tell. Were these old Army vets still around they would have a hard time believing all this is happening today.
I believe it is Arizona where there are 50 square miles of American land off limits to the public as it is to dangerous to go into. You be crazy and get into trouble the police are to afraid to come and help you.
I just don't know if we are too late to stop this even if we did send in the Army, bring back the Calvery and shoot on sight. Damn the streets of Laredo are still dangerous .

Part of the problem is our dependence on drugs. All these idiots smoking dope and doing these other things do attribute to it.
Mexico, however, has been corrupt for decades.
There's 3 border hotspots near me. Two of them have posted signs saying (in effect) "We won't shoot each other near the tourist areas, you're safe."
