Title: NASA rover lands on Mars

The most high-tech Mars rover ever built has landed on the red planet.

NASA says it received a signal from the Curiosity rover after a plunge through the Martian atmosphere described as "seven minutes of terror."

The rover is the size of a small car, so engineers had to come up with a new way to set it down. For the first time, cables were used to lower the rover inside of a giant crater.

At $2.5 billion, it's the most ambitious and priciest Mars mission yet. For the next two years, the rover will drill into rocks and scoop up soil. It will be exploring whether the planet's environment could have supported life in the form of microscopic organisms.

More to come.

7 Minutes of terror is no joke.  Hart pounding, so who says humans can not hold their breath that long ????

Now to the serious stuff, what to do if we do find some kind of life on Mars ???   Will we even recognise that it is life of some kind.    All we have to go on is what WE consider life on our planet, we still have many mysteries to solve on Earth.

There has been no life on Mars until they find an empty beer can, a spent cartridge and a dead pot smoking liberal.

There IS life on Mars, and it's conservative.

Mars is experiencing global warming just like we are. SOMEBODY has to be driving SUVs.

First we destroyed Mars, then we came here to Earth, where to next?

How do you know it was the residents of Mars that destroyed that planet ?????

The Bible speaks of a war in the heavens, could be some how some Marsions escaped to earth and that would explain the technology of the Pyramids all over Earth.

Was there not suppose to be a planet between Mars and Jupiter that was blown up and caused the Asteroid belt ???

If I wasn't working last night I would've been glued to NASATV. Great news to find out this morning that the landing was successful! Can't wait to see what Curiosity finds.

The worst thing about the coverage was the interview of Will.I.Am, or however the heck you spell it.  Anybody who had the misfortune of tuning in during that time knows why.

The rest of the coverage was excellent, though.  There were a lot of very excited people in that control room, when everything worked correctly.  :-)
