So, the stupid Kansas school teacher makes a thread about bomb threats in KC, and guess who interjects...

2nd Friday in a row - bomb threats called in to WalMart stores
Bomb threats have been called in to several area Walmart stores this afternoon, prompting precautionary evacuations.
The store in western Kansas City, Kan., at 108th Street and Parallel Parkway received a call about 1:40 p.m. and was evacuated while police prepared to conduct a search.
In Kansas City, North, police said a similar threat was phoned into the store at Missouri 152 and N. Church Avenue at approximately 2 p.m. Store managers evacuated the building as well.
The threats are similar to numerous others, including some in the Kansas City area, that have been phoned into stores in recent weeks.

but some folks are indeed laughing as a way to relieve stress... after each and every one of these.

5. Fire and police crews
that are responding to these. After the all clear some people are telling rather nervous jokes. As i said, relieve stress. Has nothing more or less to do with it.
Then um...why bring it up?

6. still seems to be an obvious point with no relevance to people calling in bomb threats
whether they are telling dark jokes or not, pretty much would be pissed off if i was responding, working at walmart or simply there to buy some milk. probuably getting to the point were the responders are assuming its a fake threat only hope they are not being set up, but its human nature to switch off if you keep getting deployed on false wolves.

No.
Though to make it relevant to you, whoever is calling them in, IS PROBABLY having a good laugh, watching the massive response.
I just noted that to some folks this is the source of a lot of very dark jokes.

12. As a former EMS worker, no, not really
after a while you just start laughing them off, because your other response is NOT healthy.
And duds are actually very much so part of the job.
Can't help but wonder what that other response would be...

And I have to ask, since I did this for ten years in pretty serious conditions, involving among other things real bullets whizzing by... your opinion is based exactly on what? Mine is based on actually having done the job for ten years, and having a few rashes of false alarms, where yes, we laughed it off, where people like you could not see us. We also used to really laugh it off after a major Multi Casualty Incident, fire, HAZMAT incident or shooting\ shootout. But hey, what would I know?
But seriously, when they finally find a real bomb, the mood will quickly shift. So far, they have not. Which is a good thing, and a bad thing. It is a good thing they have not, and a lot of folks are going for the really dark humor, you might not get it, but I can count on it. It is a bad thing because yes, even EMS and Bomb Squads and cops can get complacent with the boy who cried wolf too many times. That is the down side of this.
The other down side, is that on a very serious matter, somebody MIGHT be testing the response to find holes. That is the OTHER down side.
But if you think a lot of these folks are not doing what they are doing to decompress, I gotta a wonderful piece of beach front property in AZ... I speak, on this one, from real life experience

You are an ignorant on this matter in ways that are just damn impressive. And cannot accept somebody else can or has been there done that. For that you are a poorer person.
And yes, it was very different from American EMS. American EMS will NOT allow crews into places we were asked to go to.
And damn it SKINNER, this guy cannot go to the FRACKING IGNORE LIST.
Anybody know if there's a limit?

11. One of the threats in California was by a guy my ex used to work with...
And he was arrested. they set his bail WAY too low at 10,000 (though I'm hoping the newspaper confused bond with bail, and it was actually higher.) If he was Middle Eastern, he would have been held no-bail.
Anyway.. people were commenting, that didn't know him, like he was some OWS left winger who hated Walmart.
No.. actually he's a hard core right wing, religious christian, who was apparently angry that Walmart will be selling birth control, now that the health care law kicked in. I have a feeling that this is the M.O. for these guys.

I would round up all the likely suspects in the area and subpoena their phone records.
You can start with union members, Democrats, and liberals.

I didn't think the unterprimitiven called the all knowing one out. However, THIS is a definite call out. Is that not against DU rules? It's amazing this :censored: knows so much, and yet, can't keep the simplest of rules in her head. I think Frank should send out another e-mail. :-)

Seems when people are really stressed they NEED to laugh, say 3 Stooges, anyone. Anyone remember Mary Tyler Moor at the funeral for Chuckles the Clown ?
Sometimes dark humor just comes out, at Dads funeral reception I told my husband to take off his suit jacket as people would think he was the under taker. Dads Sister started laughing and had tears in her eyes.
MASH was full of dark humor, only thing that kept the doctors and nurses sane. Humor is the shock value that causes a laugh. The worse the situation the more humor is needed.
I have never allowed Hogans Hero's to be played in my home as I find nothing funny about a POW Camp. However millions of people loved that show, laughed their Ass off , I could never understand that.
In this case I believe Nads is right on. People around death be they first responders or doctors and nurses cannot deal with the horror they face without some kind of humor to release the tension and release the endorphins that bring one out of a bad funk.
