Traits most ( if not all ) right wingers share:
Hipocrisy, hatered, narcissism, sociopathic tendencies, pathologicaly lying, greed and shovinism. I spent over 3 years of my life with one, trying to change him. Him, they, will NEVER change. We' ll just have to aknowledge them and interact with caution. Some of them are downwright evil and will backstab you in a heartbeat. Sad but true.

1. greed and lack of empathy
are the biggies that the republicans know how to play to in terms of attracting the like-minded to their cause. Ever notice how so many right wingers sound like selfish children when they call into political shows, they aren't exactly over flowing with compassion most of the time. An authoritarian and sheep-like mind set are also very common among the right wingers, hence the patriotism bullshit they are so hot on.
Compassion isn't supporting and demanding a whole bunch of freebies from the government.

No, when we fall on hard times we buckle down and figure out how to make things better, you on the other hand sit there and demand that you be given everything you need and want for free. You never ever hear a liberal say what they will do in order to better themselves.

Aren't those two things diametrically opposed to one another?
Authoritarian implies leadership, ie forcing others to do your bidding against their will and inclination. Sheep-like implies passive followers of a herd.

I am greedy. I volunteer for 15+ hours of OT every week when it's available. Everyone else whines about it, but I like it because it makes me richer.

Hard times? I am truly blessed by my hard times. I worked 70+ hours a week for my employer for years. I delivered projects that were sometimes very unique one of a kind type projects to demanding customers, and I know I made that company a whole pile of money. All the way to when they met at the door with armed guards and told me the contracts hadn't been renewed and I needed to sign a document and collect my stuff.
I had a vacation with my kids for the summer. I got to spend a two weeks with my family in Florida. I got to take the kids out to walk on Mount Rogers in Virginia. I didn't cost the taxpayers a dime.
Now of course, I'm looking at my savings and thinking of opening my own business. I guess to the DUmmies I am the ultimate evil, a hard working optimist that loves his family and country.

My bf and I just got into a huge political argument
My bf ( who is RW ) kept insisting that the present economy is in a hole only because Clinton signed the Nafta agreement in '94. He completely denies any negative impact the Bush administration had on the economy and said that " the trilions spent on wars don't matter". He wund up yelling and hanging up on me but not before calling me an "effing idiot" I honestly think this is it for us, when he comes home we'll discuss my move out. I think he is outright crazy, and I'm one too for staying with him.

But I will not take abuse and being called names just because I disagree with him. We've been together 3 and half years, but I think this is the end. i hope I didn't brake any forum rules by venting in here, and thanks for the welcome, its almost a month since I've been on DU , this place is awesome.

I will be ok, he can stay with his hatered, I'll be better off on my own. Life is too short to spend it surronded constantly by his negativity. He repeats like a parrot everything Limbaugh says, sometimes he doesn't even know what he's talking about. I remember our last discussion about healthcare reform, he kept saying that the bill will ",open the borders to illegals" and some other nonsense. Anyway, ill be fine with or without him in my life. Cheers!

I rarely tip at that table, too. And when I do, it's usually accompanied by a nasty note to the server including questions about why they don't get a real job.

Saw an interesting way to cook burgers with bacon...stick 5 hot dogs in a burger, one for each leg and one for the head, split each leg a little bit so it spreads into feet, and wrap the whole burger with bacon slices... voila! A burger turtle. :rofl:
