What if Romney is replaced at the convention?
With the story about Willard's taxes heating up in the media, I'm excited yet a little worried now about a brokered convention. People HATE Romney. With the exception of Mormons, most repugs will need nose plugs to pull the lever for him. What if they replace him with a more likable candidate, like Mitch Daniels, or a crazy person, like Bachmann or Paul?

8. Ron Paul may have the delegates at the convention
to stir things up. Should be an interesting convention and will show the world how broken the republican party is!
Dr Nutz belongs with you loons.

55. It doesn't matter. Their heavy hitters are dead or retired
and all they have left are lightweights, just the way Norquist likes 'em. However, if there is a real battle on the floor for this one, it's going to rip that party apart to the point it's going to be difficult for them to field a national candidate, at all.
The Reagan coalition of the religious crazies and the rich is showing especially deep cracks and has been for a long time since GOP presidents, SC justices and Congresses have done a great deal for the richest 1% but abortion is still legal.
The Nixon coalition of the rich and the bigots is still holding up because the guy in the White House isn't all white. However, if they fail to dig up a southerner in 2016, it too might fail.
God you are stupid.

4. I think there is a very good chance of a brokered convention!
I hope Harry Reid and anyone else who has real evidence regarding Romney's tax returns, is smart enough to hold onto it until after the republican national convention.
This Harry Reid? HarryReidisaPederast

10. Yes!
Maybe before the convention if his VP selection fires up his base too much. Otherwise, AFTER the convention!
What a genius.

9. If Romney is replaced at the convention Obama wins 46 states
Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Alaska are out of reach for Obama, but think back to 1972--one of the things that put Nixon back in the White House, even though NO ONE liked Richard Nixon, was McGovern replacing Thomas Eagleton with Sargent Shriver as his VP pick.
I can only imagine the bedlam that would ensue if they replaced the guy at the top of the ticket.
McGovern was a socialist.

13. I think a lot of people here would dismiss the possiblity without a second thought, maybe out...
...of a sense of psychological self-preservation, heh heh. I don't think it's going to happen but he's such an incredibly weak candidate, but clearly also one who knows exactly how to suck up and who to suck up to.
So, as someone pointed out earlier, maybe Romney will simply be an incredibly inexperienced, unattractive candidate, who's put forward as kind of a thesis that even an absolute clam of a man can be elected president in a post-Citizens United America.
I mean, in a way, he's the perfect automaton for the job, really, if that's what the PTB in the GOP is shooting for!

Pssst...he is tied or ahead.

17. I have the answer!
He's simply NEVER going to show his tax returns, so let's enjoy this because it's his undoing, but the fat lady hasn't sung yet
He is toast again!

19. No one else is going to be as prepared to run against Obama as is Mitt the Twit
The GOP goes down either way.

42. The teabaggers have a lot of power
and they loath Romney. The establishment Republicans can't control them, and they are too scared of losing their own seats to rein them in. If the crazies band together to force a brokered convention, they can bring down Romney and they won't care if they take the whole GOP down with him in the name of ideological "purity". Then they can pick the one person they truely adore... Sarah Palin.
Who let the newbie in on our plans? :hammer:

54. CAN YOU RUN FOR THE PREZSHIP IF YOU"RE IN PRISON?
I think Mitty will be wearing stripes pretty soon,if we all google hard! I'm begging everyone to search "HERCULES II LLC" "HCA" " Bain" "Medicare Medicaid Fraud " If Mitty isn't in leg irons by the convention may I suggest that ex Senator Frist be the Veep? He and Romney are partners in HCA,and those hospitals have been found guilty of Medicare Fraud.HCA and Bain's other hospitals have killed people in them,so the Prez and his veep can be "co-offers ". Look up "Frist the Cat Killer" and Romney's "French Fatal Car Accident " Google till you drop!

Uh.
Whoa.
Wait.
What?
.....one of the things that put Nixon back in the White House, even though NO ONE liked Richard Nixon, was McGovern replacing Thomas Eagleton with Sargent Shriver as his VP pick.
I don't think the voting public in 1972 gave a shit about who the (D) vice presidential candidate was.

I do not know one Mormon except one on FB and everyone is voting for Romney, even the Morman :hammer:
-
This whole Romney tax thing is going to blow up in their face so bad. Just like everything else they try. Ron Paul has no chance of over being President. And obama is going down big time in November.

Exactly. I remember that election very well. Remember this was long before internet or cable TV or the 24 hour news cycle. No one had ever heard of Thomas Eagleton.
TV images of the Chicago hippie riots, and the McGovern wing of the party defending them, set the tone of the campaign and clinched it for Nixon.

That will just prove the GOP stole the election! </DU>

In answer to your question, Betty Jo, as Keith Judd proved, you can run for president from jail. You remember Keith Judd, do you? He was the no-name who came close to beating Obama in the WV primary,

....one of the things that put Nixon back in the White House, even though NO ONE liked Richard Nixon, was McGovern replacing Thomas Eagleton with Sargent Shriver as his VP pick.
McGovern asked about a dozen people to be his running mate and they all declined the offer. Eagleton accepted but was replaced when issues about his hospitalization and shock treatment for depression were encountered.
Everyone new McGovern was going to lose and didn't want to be part of the disaster.
