Be sure to wish her a "Happy Holiday."

Ramadan Day 15: "Its like Gold out here," said the homeless man...
when I gave him a bottle of water on my way to work this morning.
I think I've mentioned that "thirsty is the worst" for me, especially with the weather we've been having lately, so I've been carrying bottles of water with me for the homeless guys I see when I drive to work in the morning. A couple of them have staked out a place by the exit ramp of the freeway, and they seem to rotate who stands there every day. They even leave the "Homeless" sign in a piece of fencing so any of them can use it. They are polite and courteous, and one told me he only comes when he can't pick up "odd jobs" to cover things.
Today's guy had long, dirty stringy hair, and a scruffy "need a shave" look. I've seen him once or twice before, and he seems nice. I asked if his friend was with him today, and he said yes. Fortunately, I had brought two bottles this morning, and was able to give him both. He thanked me, and smiled when I apologized for not having more.
"Don't worry about it," he said. "Its like gold out here."
He really meant it when he said "it was like gold." The man I gave it to yesterday thanked me and told me he would use it to clean the cut on his (very dirty) hand.
Fasting is hard, and while its gotten easier (first week is always the worst!), the sleep deprivation thing (because I'm getting up early, and staying up a little late) gave me "fuzzy brain" yesterday afternoon. I was talking with my husband about it this morning; the homeless guys must be exhausted - having to stay "on alert" while being in uncomfortable places, with inadequate food or drink. Their problem solving resources must be very limited, especially the longer they are out there....
He said it was "like Gold."
We are not rich, but at the moment, I am feeling very humbled by how much I have, and I am grateful.
Halfway done at the end of the day...

For many, maybe even most, people 'humility' includes not boasting about the good deeds one has done or the things one has.
This doesn't seem true for the DUmmies. It is as if it must be posted on the DUmp to validate that it really happened - if in fact it is true at all.
But no, IdiotBriggs is not a muzzie. There was a post earlier announcing that he/she celebrates ramadan through fasting every year because she finds it "empowering". I wondered at the time if it is so "empowering" why not do some fasting and maybe some good deeds on a regular basis rather than just when some other group decides it is time.
edited to add the link to that earlier thread:http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002973625#op

Ramadan Begins Tonight/Tomorrow. I will be fasting.
No, I am not Moslem. This will be my fourth year. No one is making me do it, and if I "cheat", no one will care except me.
I find it ... empowering.
You see, Ramadan is a month long exercise in having an "Attitude of Gratitude." ….<more>

Remember, this is the same IdiotBriggs primitive who threw someone out of a house she was renting her a few years ago.
The woman was poor, but had a job. She paid her rent as best as she could. But then something happened to her car, which she needed to get to her job, and she had to replace it with another $600 clunker that ran.
Because she was late on the rent, the IdiotBriggs primitive kicked her out.
Now, normally one is sympathetic towards landlords, and probably this was stretching a landlord's tolerance a bit much--but the IdiotBriggs primitive is a primitive, and thinks she's "nicer" and "more caring, more considerate," than decent and civilized people.
If she'd been how she advertises herself--nicer, more caring--she would've given the poor woman a break.
But n-o-o-o-o-o-o-o.
I swear, I haven't seen a primitive yet, who shouldn't be prosecuted for violating truth-in-advertising laws; the primitives are never as good, as caring, as considerate, as tolerant, as non-racist, as they allege themselves to be.

On the plus side maybe the former renter was one of the people she gave water to.

This is a lot like taxes. They want everybody but them to pay them but do not pay them. They want everybody else to be charitable, them no so much.
DUchebag = hypocrisy + hate + ignorance + arrogance

That's why I'm a strong proponent of applying truth-in-advertising laws to the primitives.

Well, I guess she's getting used to a country run by muzzie sharia law, huh.
DUmbass DUmmies should read about what muslim countries do to people that don't fast and refrain from drinking water during the day during ram-a-dong.

By the way, I got some of the details about the "compassionate" IdiotBriggs primitive wrong.
This memory, like everybody else's, is fallible.
Anyway, from February 11, 2009, and it's well worth going to the link to read; original post by USA4ME.

Feb 2009 puts it in the window of her four years of celebrating ramadan. But - it does seem to be inconsistent with the 'attitude of gratitude' she says is empowering. There should have been expressions of joy for the opportunity to do for others.

One time a panhandler came up to me and claimed he was an artist from Chicago and that he had a showing at one of our museums and he said he lost his wallet and started crying that he didn't know what to do and could I help him out.
I told him that if this museum really sponsored his show, they know him and they should be able to help him.
But I didn't really believe his story.

So, the other day I saw a hobo standing on the off-ramp from I-70. It was a hot afternoon, 106 in the shade and 120 on the pavement.
I asked the hobo, "When was the last time you had a hot meal?"
"Yesterday", he replied.
So I pointed to the Dumpster at the McDonald's across the street and said, "Bon appetit!"
