Title: Target releases new same-sex wedding registry ad ...
Post by: Kyle Ricky on August 02, 2012, 06:25:51 PM
I am never shopping at target again. This is the final straw.

Now if they would just come out and say that they were for gay marriage, it wouldn't bother me too much. But for them actually get political, change the store to be a rainbow room, and act on it? That is when I draw the line.

Oh I do not know but this is strange.   What to get for 2 guys getting married that they do not have that comes from Target ???

Would it not be better to register at the Adult stores to get what they may actually use ????

We know a heterosexual couple starting out in life, unless they have lived together for 5 years need most everything from pots and pans to sheets and towels.

Pain in the butt to know what to get Any couple that has lived together for a few years anything they may need.  Seems to me the couple all ready has the necessity's of life, a electric can opener to pillows on the bed.

Registry at one time was to help the bride to ---Like a hope chest----start building a nest for them and husband.   Start a life together, not after 5-10 years together now want stuff they can get on their own.

Oh well, so be it, most of the gifts will come from Adult stores for the gays, ------Gee I would love to see the gifts list given to Barney Frank,   do you think he really needed a waffle iron.

This from a nationwide ad or one strictly for West Hollywood or something?

I told my wife we are chopping up her Target card.  I want to send it to the CEO.

(There is no balance due on the card)

This is the essential difference between conservatives and liberals. You choose to take your business elsewhere; they demand Chik-fil-A be run out of business.

I am going to assume that it is only for states that have gay marriage. I don''t see how it could help being a national ad. Either way, it is pathetic.

There are six states that have legalized same sex marriage:

Massachusetts
New York
New Hampshire
Vermont
Maryland
Rhode Island

Washington D.C and two Native American tribal jurisdictions (Coquille, Suquamish) also have legalized same sex marriage. California did have it legalized, but it got turned over with Prop 8.

The thing that people aren't looking, though, is this. Those states mentioned may have recognized it, but do to the 'Defense of Marriage Act' (DOMA) the federal government does not recognize it, and other states also do not recognize it. That leads me to question whether a partner of a deceased can get federal benefits, like social security and the like? I am guessing probably not.

For that to happen th,e federal government would have to legalize marriage for the whole country...I don't see that happening anytime soon...

That is what I was thinking also, but wasn't too sure.
