Title: Is this real?
Post by: ChuckJ on July 31, 2012, 08:57:20 PM
http://dailycaller.com/2012/07/27/obama-backs-race-based-school-discipline-policies (http://dailycaller.com/2012/07/27/obama-backs-race-based-school-discipline-policies)

clip from the article:

President Barack Obama is backing a controversial campaign by progressives to regulate schools’ disciplinary actions so that members of major racial and ethnic groups are penalized at equal rates, regardless of individuals’ behavior.

Is this article for real or is it a joke? Isn't it sad that with this bunch I can't tell the difference?

I think it's real and just another example of racism from Obama.

If it has anything to do with racism, then yes, it is real.

The Daily Caller is a reputable source, and it cites an Obama Executive Order  ::) .  It also references a Maryland state school board which explicitly demands this "equity."  This is bullshit.  How about equity for the disrupted class/school?

I favor a dept of Ed to establish standards & issue challenges to schools across the nation. That said I further believe it should be left to the individual states and local school board how best to achieve those standards and meet challenges.

Disciplinary issues are without a doubt local issues.

This goes hand in hand with Obama's reduction of federal penalties regarding crack .  If a law disproportionately affects blacks because more of them break that law, then it is racist and needs to be changed. Change the law and the penalties, not the behavior.

So you actually support STATE Dept. of Eds?

Only as previously stated.

Establish guidelines and provide mechanisms of support to local districts as best suited for that state.

But they'd never - EVER - be just controlled by a state. The Feds wouldn't allow it.

heres the exec order: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/07/26/executive-order-white-house-initiative-educational-excellence-african-am

the only 2 articles about it are the very left wing huffington post praising it, and the very right wing daily caller condemning it. With all the major media ignoring it, I would bet that its just a gesture and wont have any real impact.
