Any person who repeats the lie "Reagan ended the Cold War" is snubbing the Polish People.
Lech Walesa and Pope John Paul II were the men who stood up to the Soviet Union and caused the Iron Curtain to fall.
Without them, the Solidarity Movement, and the Polish people, none of the people in Reagan's cabinet would have even paid attention to eastern Europe. None of the protests that brought down the Berlin wall would have happened.
It is so sad that the GOP is robbing the conservatives in Poland of their heritage in the world, but then again Poles are used to big asshole nations treating them like shit. Romney would be no different.
Why do I always forget this?!? http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021048215
Ok, fine.
I certainly give the Polish props for what they were able to achieve.
But the thing is it was U.S. defence spending that broke the Soviet Union.
Heck, even now Russia can't afford to buy the top end products of the Russian defense industry for there own military in any numbers, they have to sell it to (oil rich) client states.

Hey slampoet, your post is stupid and it doesn't even rhyme. No props for you.

The DUmmies will never understand this but there were a lot of things happening together that brought about the end of the Cold War. Possibly the number 1 thing is Reagan believed it was possible to defeat the Soviets while all of D.C. believed in MAD.
Without Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John-Paul would there have been a structure for the courageous Solidarity Movement?
And also let us not forget the power of American cultural imperialism (sop to the DUmmies). Once American products hit the Russian black market and the people saw they were being lied to about the west, it was only a matter of time.
Oh yeah, let's not forget that Lech Walesa just endorsed Romney over your Commie Tzar, DUmmies, so suck it and God Bless Ronald Reagan for his vision that your type could be, and deserved to be, defeated.

More dreck from the left hand side of the IQ distribution.

In short President Reagan said we will find a way to mitigate your potential for aggression and the Soviets knew they could not counter it.
Had dem/Carter policies continued which cowered at every advance of Soviet militarism continued most of the world by now would have been enslaved by tyranny.
It would be a universal system of misery.

[Pomnik Ronalda Reagana]
Ronald Reagan Monument
A large bronze statue of U.S. President Ronald Reagan now calls Warsaw home after an unveiling in November 2011 that included former Polish President and Solidarity leader Lech Wałęsa. The large 3.5-metre monument portrays Reagan, who was the 40th president of the United States and held office from 1981-1989, when he stood at a podium at Berlin’s Brandenburg gate and declared, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall,†back in 1987.
So why are the Poles using their valuable bronze on the Gipper? In Poland Reagan is considered one of the 20th century’s most important leaders thanks to his long-standing opposition to communism. During Reagan’s Christmas address in 1981 he cited the persecution of the Solidarity trade union by the country’s communist government as evidence that the regime was waging “war against its own people.†That holiday season candles were put in the windows of the White House to show Reagan’s support of the Solidarity movement and the Polish people.
Must really suck to be a DUmmie.

See them pollocks really are stupid. :rotf:
I am a pollock so I can say that. :-)

Reagan also has statues in London and in Budapest. No other US President since has one. What is striking, is that the Democrats are still running against a man who has
been dead since June, 2004. Every election since Reagan left office has been a referendum on what Reagan left behind. Four Presidents and they still either go for his widow's blessing or try to pillage his reputation which none of them will ever begin to measure up against.
DUmmies, answer one question honestly. "Are you better off now than your were four years ago?"
Crickets
It was timeless then, it is timeless now.

Just let me say, as an old Cold Warrior, that this DUmmie's post is as ****ed up as a soup sandwich.
:hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

Wasn't it Rocky IV that won the Cold War?
"If I can change, and yous can change, we ALL can change!"
Oh and Ronald Reagan walking away in Iceland, "Tear Down This Wall," etc., etc.

Does anyone remember the owebuma attempt to compare himself favorably with Reagan push ? It went over like a lead zeppelin. So now if they can't build up the anointed one to Reagan stature, they will just attempt to undermine Reagan in an attempt to pull him down to the owebuma level.

Yeah, I think it lasted for about a week.

A pollock is a fish.
Polack.

I remember it much different then the DUmmies do. They hate Regan so much they don't dare give him an ounce of credit. Sorry DUmbasses but Reagan led the fight during the cold war withThatcher and the Pope and many others so well that Russia can't even field their latest prototype Jets or keep most of their Navy afloat and at sea like they used to. If we didn't pay such a huge amount of cash to their space program it too would go the way of the Dodo.

A pollock is a fish.
Polack.
Bitchslap for being a grammer NAZI, but a high five for ****ing over the Poles...
(Because September 1st is coming up and all that...)

0bama said he wanted to reverse the Reagan Revolution in his books (wink, wink). But of all the the great things Reagan did, killing the USSR is what sticks in the Won's craw the most.

Lech Walesa on Ronald Reagan:
When talking about Ronald Reagan, I have to be personal. We in Poland took him so personally. Why? Because we owe him our liberty. This can't be said often enough by people who lived under oppression for half a century, until communism fell in 1989.
Poles fought for their freedom for so many years that they hold in special esteem those who backed them in their struggle. Support was the test of friendship. President Reagan was such a friend. His policy of aiding democratic movements in Central and Eastern Europe in the dark days of the Cold War meant a lot to us. We knew he believed in a few simple principles such as human rights, democracy and civil society. He was someone who was convinced that the citizen is not for the state, but vice-versa, and that freedom is an innate right.
...
As I say repeatedly, we owe so much to all those who supported us. Perhaps in the early years, we didn't express enough gratitude. We were so busy introducing all the necessary economic and political reforms in our reborn country. Yet President Ronald Reagan must have realized what remarkable changes he brought to Poland, and indeed the rest of the world. And I hope he felt gratified. He should have.

It's grammar, not "grammer". :-)

That would also be the same Lech Walesa who told your #OCCUPYMOMSBASEMENT crowd and the Union cretins in Wisconsin to shove it up their a$$. Notice no mention of Thatcher, one way or the other. It must be difficult to hold a job with your brains constantly running out of your ears, huh DUllard?

Absolutely. A huge amount of guts. Reagan knew, intrinsically, that the Soviets could never keep up. They had to build 5 to 1 to just break even and 60% of their armor was seriously obsolete; barely suitable for hull down defense only. Offensively, A-10s' would have slaughtered them, ZSUs or no ZSUs. I'm using conservative figures considering what happened (and continues to happen) to Soviet-designed military hardware when it comes up against US/British/West German hardware.
DUllards just won't let go of teh stoopid.

That, too! :-)

I doubt it. It's amazing what firm resolve alone and leadership will do.
And also let us not forget the power of American cultural imperialism (sop to the DUmmies). Once American products hit the Russian black market and the people saw they were being lied to about the west, it was only a matter of time.
There is a lot to be said for that. It's the reason the left has been at war with it for more than 40 years.

Me, too.
I use it all the time! :cheersmate:
Shame I can't remember any Polish from my grandparents. It was forbidden in normal conversation. English, or STFU.

...or a football bat. :-)
Twenty two years of revisionism, Orwellian half-truths and outright lies and fabrications have turned the DUllards brains to mush.
Not a difficult thing to do, as they willingly assist the process.
-

Let's see: Pres. Reagan - Republican so the DUmmies won't give credit for anything he does.
Lady Thatcher - Conservative, plus a woman who didn't feel the need to wail about how oppressed she was but just got out there and did things...doubly bad in the DUmmies' book.
Pope J.P.II - Catholic, 'nuff said.
-
Lech Walesa on Ronald Reagan:
Hi 5. Thank you, dandi.
-
Bitchslap for being a grammer NAZI, but a high five for ****ing over the Poles...

That wasn't a grammar mistake; it was a spelling mistake.
*runs*

Hey, DUmp, Reagan ended the Cold War ......... And he was one of the greatest Presidents in history. I know, I know, you all think that Jimmy Carter and Barry obama are the greatest Presidents in history.
-
Thanks for posting Lech Walesa's words up there, dandi.

Don't get me wrong, I think Lech Walesa is a freedom warrior, but somehow when I see or hear his name, I think of In Fluenza.
