frozen watermelon puree --- would it be any good?
I wonder....
It would be tasty in the off season, maybe. Apparently it's more nutritious than we used to understand.

1. Maybe. I'd be tempted to strain the seeds and pulp out and freeze the watermelon juice, something that's absolutely wonderful and my favorite juice of all time.
franksolich just peels the green skin off a watermelon and then dumps the melon into the blender to make juice.
Taking out the seeds is time-consuming, and besides, the blender smashes them to bits anyway, so one doesn't even know they're there.
Good source of fiber and roughage too, watermelon seeds; and as God knows, the primitives need more fiber and roughage in their diets.

3. You can use it for various things, blended drinks, sorbet, etc.
I made watermelon freezer jam two summers back, that was pretty good although I followed a recipe in the pectin and it came out kind of sweet for my taste. If I did it in the future, I think I would use a pectin that allows for reduced sugar.

Any time you're up over in that suburb east of Portland, Oregon, look around for a 70ish woman, three headscarves, four winter coats, ringing a hand-bell and pulling a child's little red wagon behind her--I'm sure Judy has a watermelon pie in there somewhere.
The problem is, it's free if you're an overpaid public servant, but if you're poor, Judy'll charge you and arm and leg for it.
