In the wake of chick-fil-a making a statement against gay marraige. They have acknowledged that they are conservative and now the media is blowing a fuse.

Chick-Fil-A Publicly Acknowledges It’s Conservative, Media Upset
When the head of a major fast food chain underscores his support for traditional marriage, lefty heads explode. Dan Cathy, son of Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy, told the Baptist Press July 16, that the conservative restaurant chain is, in fact, still conservative.
In response to a question pertaining to the franchise’s support of the traditional family, Cathy replied “guilty as charged.†The president and chief operating officer continued, “We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that... we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

I have a new found respect for chick-fil-a. For them to stand up for their beliefs, and then mention God to be the catalyst of that belief is a great thing as far as I am concerned.

Never went to one. The only one near us is in an - uhh - extremely "ethnic" area. Otherwide, I'd be a regular customer BECAUSE of this crap.

When did anyone assume Chick-fil-a wasnt conservative? Its closed on Sunday so its employees can go to church

Excellent point. NOW there's a reason for the haters to come out of the wood pile, though.

I've known about the company's Christian roots since they first opened in my area many many years ago. I was/am proud they are around.

Hobby Lobby too. I would go to chick-fil-a, to support them but I don't eat fast food, and I don't like chicken.

I have found and I live in an over 65% aa population that they do not go to the CFA's here. They only go to the Churches, KFC, Popeyes. I rarely see them in the CFA's which is strange come to think of it. :???:

Yes, Hobby Lobby too. Good people.
As for Chick-Fil-A, maybe the Lord will work to change your heart so you can Eat Mor Chikin.

Criminal aldermen in Shitcago are always moaning about something.

Sure can! It's been done in several suburbs of Shitcago already. Some of them have caved, but not all.

Don't worry, that alderman will use some excuse besides their religious views. Liberals lie all the time.

I think in this case, it will be known that it is their religious views...

I'll follow the story and see what happens. I hope it explodes in his face, but somehow I doubt it will.

The leader of a Christian group today said Ald. Joe Moreno displayed hypocrisy for his decision to deny Chick-fil-A the right to open in his ward because of the chain restaurant president’s opposition to gay marriage.
“It’s hypocritical,†said David Smith, executive director of the Illinois Family Institute, which opposes gay marriage. “Here’s the alderman turning around and being intolerant and discriminatory because somebody has a different view than he does. Would he do that to a Muslim company?â€
The Tribune first reported that Moreno, 1st, announced he would exercise his aldermanic privilege to block the construction of the city’s second Chick-fil-A restaurant on the 2500 block of Elston Avenue in increasingly trendy Logan Square.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel backed Moreno’s ideological viewpoint, saying the city does not share the values espoused by Dan Cathy, president of the family-owned Chick-fil-A fast-food restaurant chain.
Many Chicago officials have long courted the city’s politically active lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and Emanuel has repeatedly made clear his support for gay marriage.
Cathy was quoted July 16 in the Baptist Press saying he was "guilty as charged" for supporting "the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."
But Smith said Cathy should not be punished for the views he holds.
Alderman Joe Morino, aka El Pinko (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/clout/chi-conservative-group-hits-chicago-alderman-for-blocking-chickfila-20120725,0,798326.story)

Yeah, one of the articles I read said the alderman has Rahm's ideological support. Free speech for me but not for thee. Ugh.

It's been a while since I've eaten at Chick-Fil-A.
But I think I'm going to start making a point to.

Name a liberal who doesn't have the 'Free speech for me, but not for thee' ideology?

The democrat "Big Tent" is more like a blasting mat.

We don't have this restaurant up here in northern New England. Sounds like a cool place to chill out though!!

Hey man, I am good with all that, really. But I don't eat fast food, and I don't like chicken. Which makes me feel sucky, and I am just gonna have to go through the drive through to get a tea or something to make me feel better.
If it was bacon-fil-a I would be all there. PROMISE!

Just giving you grief.
I'd like to hear your reasons for not liking fast food (and especially for not liking chicken! I went through a spell where I hated chicken, funny story).
Try one of Chick-Fil-A's handspun milkshakes - I don't think there's a better milkshake in our area.

Steak N Shake makes the best fast food milkshakes I've ever had.
I've never tried one from Chick-Fil-A. I'll have to stop by this weekend.
-
I love Chick-Fil-A, especially their breakfast. Chicken egg and bagel, with a fruit bowl.
I can ponder when I'm eating what came first.
edit to add.
-
How about fries? They have great waffle fries.
-
I am going to the one that just opened here in Happy Valley not to long ago. I drive by it every day, but haven't stopped in yet. I am french-frie-holic, and you guys saying how good they are is making me have to try them.
As for chicken. I don't really care for it either. But I do love KFC. Go figure ....

Two years ago my cholesterol was at around 220. I ate drive thru lunch and breakfast every weekday just about. I gave up drive thrus and now my cholesterol is under 200. I miss it, and sometimes I have caved into the craving for a Big Mac, or a sausage egg and cheese taquito, but when I do I feel miserable.
I have never been a fan of chicken, but I will eat it every once in a while, only if I prepare it mostly. I got some really nasty bone fragments in a chicken drive thru sandwich once, and it really grossed me out.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I imagine the milkshake is chock-full of cholesterol too. :(

I know what you mean. I once got bones in a BLT.

I see examples of free speech at DU all day long/ sarc :-) .
-
Tots, you could get some ice cream, which BEG swears by, and a diet lemonade, which (I think Debk?) highly recommended. Add some fries and call it lunch. :-)
This business is free to operate under whatever philosophy it cares to. Why on earth would the media be "upset?" Why should they possibly care? You don't have to answer.

Rahm Emanuel says Chik-Fil-A doesn't share "Chicago's values" but apparently Louis Farrakhan does.
Curious.

Not curious. Just Standard Operating Procedure for Chicago's and other libs.

Best headline of the week: "Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel welcomes racist, bigoted, anti-gay marriage advocate Louis Farrakhan to the city. Thank God he doesn't sell chicken sandwiches, or this could be a PR disaster "

Luckily it wasn't an LGBLT.

Wow. That is pretty stupid. Then, no one ever accused Rahm of having brain.

I pissed off some radical gays and liberals somewhere.
I ate Chik-Fil-A tonight for supper.
Just doing my part. :usflag: :II:
