Title: The failure that is Occupy (not from the DUmp)
Post by: ScubaGuy on July 23, 2012, 06:56:31 PM
Over the last year the OWSies have provided a lot of entertaining reading, but this is hilarious.  The occupy national gathering decided that their message should be their process.  This is the way the world should be run, true democracy where everyone has an equal voice, nothing is rejected, everyone is right.

200 or so members of the Occupy National Gathering got together and provided their "vision", which happens to be 400 or 500 line items.

And they want to run the world. (http://interoccupy.net/newswire/natgat-vision-results/)

I can't post the whole thing but here's some highlights, most aren't a surprise (everything should be free) but some are really off the wall.

Read's like a marxist, schitzophrenic nightmare.

The first item of the list, also numbered item 186, free education.
A free associates degree is a human right.
Followed by a bachelor's degree.
Followed by a master's degree.
Followed by a PHD, all such degrees are human rights.
Then, if you find that your PHD is not compatible with your lifestyle, any amount of successive PHD's until you find the PHD that fits you perfectly.
All free, all entitled to you as a basic human right.

Well, if it wasn't obvious before it now becomes painfully obvious. These people are insane, I suppose that they actually released this is good news.

I hope that this is reported on far and wide.

Below are the things that I thought were worth focusing on, at least in my opinion

Quote
92 military-industrial complex destroyed; military spending slashed
39 peace, nonviolence, no war/death machines; no military; no need for violent conflict or guns
31 symbiotic/harmonious relationship with all and everything; delusion of duality (not seeing ourselves and others as separate); mutually beneficial relationship bewteen humans, the earth, and its inhabitants; acting with consideration for the community, world, and everything else
30 end nuclear power and weapons
7 common language
9 no sexual objectification
9 no violent sexual crimes

Who do these folkes think get to make the decision on things like war, rape, other crimes...common languages?

Is it the good folkes or the bad actors?

Does a nation maintain a standing army or a police force because they are afraid the home front will separate them from liberty or is it the nation states that promise to make vanish from the face of the earth?

Is it the girl walking down the street or the rapist that makes the call?

Funny, because at all the occupoop encampments women were not safe from fellow occupoopers who raped and molested at will.

No income tax, that's enforced taxation for all, in a monetary less system, with a progressive tax.

OK.   :mental:

My computer went berserk up the thread and I didn't get to say what I had to say.

So what I want to know is, who asked those idiots for solutions to questions that have already been solved for hundred of years.

My eyes are bleeding from reading this stupidity.

This is by far the MOST STUPID rambling of incoherent thoughts I have ever experienced, and that INCLUDES the DUmp!

I've heard so much of that drivel from my husband's family - all of them holding more college degrees than sense.  I don't know what they think all those degrees would be good for in a socialist paradise.

End nuclear power?  Fine by me.  Have fun freezing in the dark, assholes.

Back years ago when I went whitewater canoeing every weekend, I used to meet those back to nature, save the environment types in the mountains. Don't dam the rivers, shut down nuclear power plants, stop burning coal etc., etc, the idiots would say. It would be hot and I'd ask them if they left their airconditioner running back home/apartment. The answer was always "Yes, why do you ask?" Then I'd ask why did you leave it on. The answer was usually, "So my house/apartment will be cool when I get home." You can guess where I was leading them and they could too so they usually tried to change the subject to me eating meat and how much more concerned with the hungry of the world they were. How my meat eating was robbing the poor of much needed grain for food....all the while sitting there drinking there grain produced beer and liquor.

Most of those idiots were college educated transplants to the Atlanta, Ga. area. You could see why Atlanta was becoming such a blue shithole. They never stopped to think about where things come from or where their policies would lead.

ETA: Idiots would heat or cool their Homes to the max for a 3-day weekend when they weren't even home.....and then bitch about how much energy cost.

The main reason I refused to live in Atlanta or near the garbage pail when we moved to GA.  There were myriad other reasons as well.  DH has to live there during the week, but gets to come home to almost paradise every weekend.   He appreciates it a lot more than I thought he would.

I hate Atlanta.  The traffic and the drivers are horrific.  I swear there was this one expressway where you would speed up to 55 and then everyone would just slam on their brakes at each ramp.  It was a miserable time and I swore I would never go back.  We were there for Six Flags.

It's not the results, it's the thought that counts.   :loser:

These idiots (and their professors) need to be left to themselves on a deserted island to implement their "brilliant ideas" on their own.

OR, we could wall off the Northeast, and southern Kalifornia, since they are already there now.   :whatever:

What's the significance of the numbers?  Several of them recur, so they are obviously not line numbers, and they don't appear to be priority numbers based on what has the "1s."  Is that how many of the self-styled delegates included that particular item in their list, or something else entirely?
