Post by: Cholley71 on July 23, 2012, 03:12:34 PM
Alright let me start off be saying that i know how it feels to lose a loved one to murder my father was killed in NYC in 92 and my mom moved back to Ohio a couple months after i was born. And alot of people are using the tragedy to push there political agenda which i think is disgusting. And alot of NRA people are saying what would happen if someone was armed I don't think if someone else had a ccw it would make a difference and maybe of made it worse. What do you think about that.

Read what a Navy Seal has to say about it:

Well it really doesn't matter what you think now does it?  We'll never know if it could have/would have made it better OR worse.

I can point you to numerous articles showing where a person with a firearm stopped someone from committing a crime but a lot of gun grabbers say "well they just stopped that one person" yet you will never know how many people that person intended to put down.  They may have stopped a holocaust all by themselves but it can't be proven.

By the way, are you the kind of person who would just sit there waiting your turn or would you like to at least have a fighting chance?

Me, I'll take the fighting chance.

A Less Horrific Colorado Shooting Spree

James Holmes has a lot in common with fellow evil maniac Matthew Murray, who was also aged 24 when he barged into a church in 2007 determined to kill as many as possible. Like Holmes, he was armed to the teeth. But whereas Holmes killed 12 and injured at least 50, Murray’s body count was only 2 killed and 2 wounded. The difference? He encountered a law-abiding citizen who was armed:

Jeanne Assam … said she “did not think for a minute to run away” when a gunman entered the New Life Church in Colorado Springs and started shooting.

There was applause as Assam spoke to a small crowd saying, “God guided me and protected me.”

New Life’s Senior Pastor Brady Boyd called Assam “a real hero” because the gunman, Matthew Murray, “had enough ammunition on him to cause a lot of damage.” …

“I saw him coming through the doors” and took cover, Assam said. “I came out of cover and identified myself and engaged him and took him down.” …

Murray was carrying two handguns, an assault rifle and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, said Sgt. Jeff Johnson of the Colorado Springs Police Department. …

Boyd said Assam’s actions saved the lives of 50 to 100 people.

I remember when that happened and I remember some of the media hammering on that "would be security guard/cop".

I specifically remember questions about why a church needed an armed guard.

Me too.  It's sad when someone uses their firearm to protect life and then are hammered on by the media and the liberal populace.  They are heroes and should be treated as such.

Well Cholly, I guess you know how we feel.  By the way, your grammar and spelling are like nails on a chalkboard.

Surveillance cameras captured a botched robbery that ended with both of the armed men shot. It wasn't what they expected when they walked into an Internet cafe Friday night in Ocala, Fla.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said the two teens tried to rob the customers inside, but one man wasn't having it. In the video, you can see 71-year-old Samuel Williams fighting back.

"This guy kept popping. He didn't stop,” one witness who didn’t want to be named said. “He just kept popping, so I think he shot both of them and then they managed to get out of the door and started scrambling out the door, but we were so shocked. It happened so fast that we couldn't hardly move."

Williams was one of about 30 customers in the Palm Internet Cafe when the two suspects walked in. Because of him, everyone inside was safe. Those armed teens, one with a gun and one with a bat, were chased out the door. Both of them were shot.

Choley. this is a DISCUSSION board. Talk to us. PARTICIPATE.

Asking for our thoughts but never commenting/never answering questions is rude.

Why do you think someone having a gun and returning fire would have made the situation worse?

I've heard of several instances where an armed bystander prevented greater tragedy, but not one case of where an armed bystander made the situation worse.

yeah its a liberal talking point. essentially it claims the defender is such a poor shot that he will kill a hundred people by firing wildly back at the killer. The point is only police should be allowed to defend themselves, us civilians are not trusted to do so ourselves.

You know, even a poor shot that couldn't hit the board side of a barn could have saved lives in Colorado. If he moved to a less crowded area of the theatre and started shooting, the criminal would have been more concerned with shooting him instead of the more people crowded exists. Shoot, take cover and move, shoot again, take cover and move, repeat as needed or as long as possible.

If anything, I think the way the left if turning this into a political rampage to try and take guns away is disgusting. Saying that guns are the reason this happen is like saying that spoons are the reason I am fat, and a pencil is the reasons people's grammar and spelling are shitty.

So, you're a 19 year old liberal who was raised by his mommy.  That explains so much.

You're just a special snowflake, aren't you?

One or two armed citizens might or might not have made a much bigger difference that night.  Since there were none, we will never know.

However, we do know the outcome when law abiding citizens are not allowed to defend themselves against idiots who don't bother to follow strict gun laws, don't we?

Pick up any copy of the "American Rifleman" magazine.  Turn to the section entitled, "The Armed Citizen."  Heck, just do a Google search on it, and start reading.

Get warm happy feelings.

The NRA has a valid point.  They're right.

No one talks about the shooting that was stopped at the Appalachian Law School in WV when someone with a CCW stopped the shooter.

Why?  Because a tragedy was averted.  We only remember the ones that weren't.

One citizen with a CCL and a sidearm would have stopped this after the first few shots.

Ever wonder why these shooters target "gun free" zones?
