The President cannot run from the economy.
Nor should he.
Romney and the Republicans accuse the President and the Democrats of talking about Romney's tax returns because they want to divert people's attention away from the bad economy.
In my opinion, the President should say, "Let's talk about the economy." Do the Rove tactic in reverse. Take your perceived weakest issue and turn it into your strongest.
The President can be honest about where the economy is today. Unemployment is higher than we need it to be. The deficits are higher than we had hoped. However, the Republicans should stop demagoguing and help us get out of the hole that they helped to put us in.
When we walked into the White House on January 20th, 2009, we were losing 750,000 jobs per month. It wasn't your average Republican recession. At that rate, we would have lost 9 million jobs in a 12-month period. We were in a crisis. The stock market was dropping like a rock, from 14,000 down to 6500. People were losing their 401K's and their life savings. The banking system was near collapse.
It is easy for Mr Romney and the Republican to now say that we "should be doing better". We are doing better - much better than we would be doing if they were still in charge with the same policies. It doesn't help that Republicans at the state level have cut over 650,000 teachers, policemen, and firemen from their jobs. Since Bush left this Administration with a starting deficit of $1.2 trillion dollars, government spending is actually at the lowest level of increase, percentage-wise. in almost 60 years. The deficits we have accrued are primarily because of the bad economy, unemployment insurance payments, the Bush taxcuts, and the wars that we have been trying to end as quickly and responsibly as we can.
Mr Romney can continue to demagogue the issue on the economy or he could begin to offer some real solutions, rather than offering trillions and trillions more in taxcuts for people in his tax bracket. As we have seen, most of those taxcuts do not end up in our economy, in fact, they don't even end up in our country.

Keep spinning, Kentuck the reality is no matter which way you look at the economy it is in the crapper still, 0bama has had almost 4 years to fix this and he hasn't made a lick of progress and you will not be able to convince people who are working crappy jobs or who can't even find a job that 0bamanomics is working.

1. Obama needs to explain
The party of NO! and the party of anit-abortion laws instead of jobs. Simple. Yes let's talk about the economy.
How many job bills has the house passed that Dingy Harry put in the circular file? So the party of NO talking point won't fly either.

5. Personally...
I would like to see the President challenge Romney to release his tax returns to the Republican Party.
Then he could challenge the entire Republican Party to come clean.
How about if 0bama came clean with all he is hiding?

7. very true.
The media are playing their part very well...
That they are, they are doing their damn best to help 0bama get a second term.

The president can't run from the economy, but he can't run ON the economy, either. :lmao:
-
I misread the title as "The president can't run the economy," and anticipated that it would be a discussion about how the president can't do anything about the economy.

barry didn't "inherit" anything (although the bad economy was the result of bawney frank and skeletor pelosi).
He REQUESTED it. And promised he would fix it.
And didn't.

To that point we agree. He should own up to the economy and take full responsibility. That's what leaders do.
When things go good, presidents take the credit. When they go bad, they take the blame.
What leaders don't do is blame others, blame circumstances, or claim that if had been someone else it would have been worse. These are the things the bluegrass primitive offers as excuses. No good. Real leaders don't offer excuses, they take the blame.
Fail, bluegrass primitive. Fail. :loser:

I don't see why he can't run on it....he's stepped all over it.

Why does Kentuck post what he believes to be an epiphany, a profound political insight discovered by him alone, which turns out to be a tired talking point? This isn't the first time.
I know! We should focus on the fact that Romney is a rich dude!

Oh sure, the man who spent the first half of his term trying to wreck the health care system ought to accuse Republicans of taking their eyes off the ball.

Obama is like all LIBERALS, he has never learned that you can't save money by spending it. We can save some money if we wanted to. First cut the hell out of taxes, cut em hard cut em fast cut em deep.Next get the hell out of Afghanistan, what the hell are we trying to do over there anyway. We are not going to subdue those primitives, haven't we learned anything. Get the hell out, leave some special forces and if the Taliban start getting cocky launch some airstrikes and blow the hell out of them. Get everyone the hell out of Iraq, don't just move them to Kuwait. Keeping our current level of military presence in the Gulf is ridiculous. Cancel all all H1B visas and do not issue any work visas of any kind. Kill NAFTA and get those damn Mexican trucks off our roads. You are not going to fix anything by giving money to the auto makers..... :mental:
There are hundreds of things the Feds could be doing to lessen the burden and stimulate the economy. Cut the tax on fuel, that would help food prices. Work to cut the layers and layers of government regulations that small businesses have to deal with. The people in Washington are suppose to be smart but I don't think they really understand how things work.

They have the paperwork to prove it but not any successes to show for it.

More like he stepped IN it. :lmao:

Most members of Congress keep their tax returns secret
July 19
KEVIN G. HALL AND DAVID LIGHTMAN
McClatchy Newspapers
Rep. Nancy Pelosi was emphatic. Mitt Romney's refusal to release more than two years of his personal tax returns, she said, makes him unfit to win confirmation as a member of the president's Cabinet, let alone to hold the high office himself.
Sen. Harry Reid went further: Romney's refusal to make public more of his tax records makes him unfit to be a dogcatcher.
They do not, however, think that standard of transparency should apply to them. The two Democratic leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives are among hundreds of senators and representatives from both parties who refused to release their tax records. Just 17 out of the 535 members of Congress released their most recent tax forms or provided some similar documentation of their tax liabilities in response to requests from McClatchy Newspapers over the last three months. Another 19 replied that they wouldn't release the information, and the remainder never responded to the query.

Why are they going after my republican S.C. representatives more so than others?

For the past two months, the obama campaign has spent more than it is taking in. So apparently he can't run that either.
