Title: Primative whines about possible new costs
Post by: Skul on July 14, 2012, 08:47:34 AM
Fairly new thread.
It has potential to really flare up, or just die out.
Only comments so far, are cute.

Visa, Mastercard may allow retailers to charge customers more to use credit card in lawsuit settleme
Retailers will be able to charge their customers more for paying with credit cards under the terms of a multibillion-dollar settlement announced late in the day Friday.

MasterCard, Visa and major banks, including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America, agreed to pay more than $6 billion to settle accusations that they engaged in anticompetitive practices in payment processing.

The settlement is the culmination of a lawsuit brought in federal court on behalf of roughly 7 million merchants in 2005.

Merchants said that the companies engaged in price-fixing to charge high fees for processing credit and debit card payments.
In addition, the merchants claimed, the payment processors unfairly banned stores from compelling their customers to use less expensive methods of payments like cash and checks.

Merchants are charged a percentage for every card transaction, DUmmie.
They will often raise all the prices of goods by that amount, to make up for profit loss.
Allowing them to charge deadbeats like you, that percentage, allows them to reduce the cost for cash paying customers.
There are several places around me, that give a percentage discount for pating cash.
Guess what that percentage is?

1. Another reason not to use credit cards,
Cut them up and throw them away, your life will be so much better.
Go right ahead, then try to rent a car, or make an internet purchase.

2. Unintended consequences:`

1. Less payments by credit cards (read, less profit on late fees, interest) Best choice.
2. More payments by:
a. Cash
b. Checking accounts
If anyone will accept it.  BTW, got a picture ID?

If you really think about it, the fact that merchants charge you anything at all for purchases is an evil ripoff. I "need" those smokes & beer & they, as greedy capitalist opressors, have an obligation to provide for the (my) common good.

Penn & Teller used Di-hydrous Monoxide on their phony petition they circulated at an Earth day march.  Sounds even more threatening.

Hey DUmmies you think this bad, just wait until taxes are raised on those same merchants, that extra 10 cents on a bag of cheetos from this will look like a real bargain compared to the rising costs to cover the loss from taxes.

Wait until a bag of pot goes up cause the dealers costs go up too. Oh you will hear wailing and gnashing of teeth!

Dihydrogen Monoxide sounds more menacing.

It's in EVERYTHING, you know.   :lmao:

As far as credits cards go, my oldest son works for a local NAPA dealer, and I get my auto parts at a HUGE discount.

However, I have to pay with cash or check, otherwise the transaction fee would be more than the store would make on the part.

This is the circular reasoning of the big-gov democrat party.

1. Pass a law by lying about saving the consumer money.
2. Implement law so that the consumer losses money.
3. Grow government on the backs of those consumer losses.
4. Bitch and moan how the law is not working and lie about needing a new law.
5. Pass a law by lying about saving the consumer money.
6. Implement law so that the consumer losses money.
7. Grow government on the backs of those consumer losses.
