Georgia man eats own feces after snorting bath salts
It's come to this: police in Georgia say a 21-year-old man allegedly high on bath salts ate his own feces.
Matthew Hammond was arrested last week after his mother called authorities to say her son was “walking around out of his mind, armed with a knife,†according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
When police arrived at the Gwinnett County home, Hammond charged at the squad car.
"(He) banged on his windows a couple times and actually grabbed onto the latch of the door trying to open it, saying, ‘Come on, come on,’ as if he wanted to fight,†Cpl. Jake Smith of the Gwinnett County Police Department told Atlanta TV station WGCL.
...
Hammond later admitted he had smoked marijuana, drank alcohol and snorted "a lot" of bath salts, according to a police report obtained by the Journal-Constitution.

Of all the crazy antics of bath-salts users that I've read, this incident has to be one of the most repulsive.

15. Not just the internet

States have been banning them one by one, but you could, and still can in some places, buy them at head shops and even gas stations/convenience stores.
And as soon as they ban one of these substances, the scientists brewing this shit up just tweak something here and there to skirt the law and sell it under a different name.
It's pretty ****ed up. I think this stuff sounds incredibly dangerous. The people are basically cooking in their own bodies (that's a description I've heard, I don't really know how scientifically sound it is) and losing their shit. That's why a lot of them strip naked. But their brains are just cooking. Something to do with adrenaline, iirc. It seems there is often permanent damage after even short-term use. And it's almost impossible to really study the effects because they are so unregulated and inconsistent as far as composition.
My instinct is to roll my eyes and dismiss these sort of sensationalist "Drugs Are The Devil and Make People Eat Other People" types of things, but this rings differently to me. I think this shit is dangerous as hell, and available over-the-counter and the internet.
Just some thoughts.

It is just another scare tactic to back up our nations war on drugs.

30. No need to worry? Are you f'ing joking? Haven't you read all the havoc that has been going on ...
due to folks using bath salts?
The stories coming out about bath salts are showing that bath salts could be he worse 'drug' ever.
Go do some research. There have been cases of folks that have irreversible severe brain damage, in at least one case it was the person's first time using it.

Not sure if I was being snarky or a bit tongue in cheek, but either way, this is just a new scare tactic. The fact that the president signs a law to ban this while instructing his DOJ to raid dispensaries, gives me mixed signals.
Designer Drugs are Designer Drugs, no matter what era.
Go do some.

It was later determined that the guy in Florida who ate the homeless man's face was only on weed, not bath salts as first reported.
At least that was all they could pick up in the drug test.

I've never heard of anyone going batDUmp crazy like that while just smoking dope. Wow!

Can they even test for bath salts ?

Here's the story. (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/9360976/Florida-cannibal-did-not-have-bath-salts-in-his-system.html)
I originally hear it reported on Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld and as it turns out that is the only place I heard the follow up reported.
Edit to add this quote from the story:
"The problem today is that there is an almost an infinite number of chemical substances out there that can trigger unusual behaviour," said Dr Bruce Goldberger, Professor and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida, US.

I think he was probably high on THC when he heard an 0bama speech, but that is only a guess.
On edit:
I guess that explanation more fully fits this guy who ate his own waste. But one never knows.

I don't think they can (yet), I am also under the impression that the drug moves fairly rapidly through your system, and when the high is gone, so is the drug.
I suspect there will be some sort of 'remnant' that they will eventually test for - either an elevated or depressed chemical or enzyme that will be used to indicate likely 'bath salt' use.
-
I have personally seen the psychosis that can be caused by Bath Salts. It is nasty stuff.

Remember about 8 years ago, I think, we were getting all these stories about kids making datura tea and mutilating themselves? Then just a week or so ago a story about a guy who shot himself in the head because he thought he was still in a mushroom generated hallucination.
One exposes one's self to great risk when one start's messing with one's cognitive functions via chemicals.

But not the after effects. My cousin still suffers effects from doing LSD one time.

Curious. How long has it been?
"Flashbacks" are a popular fiction. After 30 days, most of the hallucinogen is out of your system. As for any other after-effects, withdrawal syptoms sometimes mimic schizophrenia.

It can be trauma from a "death of ego" event. These events happen all the time but for most people it is after years of dedication to some sort of spiritual or scientific pursuit that takes lots and lots of discipline. When induced very rapidly and artificially through some sort of chemical element it can scare/scar the new ego that emerges from the event.
And that is about the extent of my understanding of that.

And as if that isn't enough, kids around here of late have been taking to drinking HAND SANITIZER for the buzz.

Few years, I think.
Sparky: That's disgusting. I've heard of people downing mouthwash like Scope, and such to get drunk. I was never THAT bad into the bottle. Damn.

Bath salts make angel dust look tame , It's to bad that they can't stop them from taking it but they can't stop the illeagle stuff either from being bought.
