Rep. Jackson facing mounting calls to explain illness, extended absence
Democratic Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is facing mounting calls to provide more details about his unexplained indefinite leave of absence from Congress.
The congressman's office says a "serious" medical condition has Jackson undergoing treatment. But officials as high as Sen. Dick Durbin, a Democrat and senior member of the Illinois congressional delegation, are now urging him to clear up what exactly has kept him from work since June 10. Durbin is joined by church leaders, Jackson political challengers and voters in asking for more details and expressing concern about whether they are still being represented by their elected official.
"As a public official, there comes a point when you have a responsibility to tell the public what's going on," said Durbin, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. Jackson "will soon have to make a report on the physical condition he's struggling with."
Jackson, who was elected to Congress in a 1995 special election, has lately become the subject of a Capitol Hill ethics investigation.

How likely is he to get his ass handed to him in his re-election bid?

In his neighborhood? Normally automatic re-election. But if Durbin is worried, gives me hope. But, it'll be a Dem even if jr doesn't end up running.

He could be dead and probably get reelected just on the dead votes alone.

I think he is in hiding because of the ethics charges against him the come from Blaggo offering him Obama's old senate seat. I think he got the seat illegally. There is talk that Jesse Jackson, Sr. 'talked' to Blaggo and 'convinced' him to give it to his son. If that comes out to be true, Jesse Jackson, Jr. (and hopefully Sr.) will be going to jail for a little while.

Jackson's family has also been largely silent throughout the episode. On Tuesday, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the lawmaker's father and a former Democratic presidential hopeful, told a Chicago television station that it would be “inappropriate†to reveal the details of his son's condition now.
“I speak as a father,†the elder Jackson told an NBC affiliate. “During this pain, as he comes out of his crisis, we will be with him. And we hope that he'll be fully restored to his health. Right now, he's going through a tremendous challenge.â€

Sounds like rehab to me........

For the life of me, I can't figure out the reason for their panic. Dick Turdbin is a big gun to bring out for a junior congress critter.
-
I don't know what his problem is but I guarantee you that he will not be expelled even if he does not show up between now and election day.
Note: If this was a Repub, the cause would be splattered all over the airwaves. This is purposely being hushed up by the media.

There have been rumors and denials of a suicide attempt.

Wow, Jesse....you want privacy? Different when it's YOUR kid or YOUR family, isn't it?
You've never cared when it was a Republican or their family.
Wonder if you will behave differently next time a witch hunt is started on a Republican.
No, probably not. You will be right there leading the charge for all the nitty-gritty details.
I, however, do hope YOUR kid's health is restored.

Jesse Jackson spoke at Penn State here a couple of years ago. They were giving out free tickets to hear him, and maybe have the opportunity to speak with him. I denied the tickets and told them to just tell him I said he is a scumbag. They didn't like that :lmao:

Jesse has had a long and fruitful career in committing extortion, screwing around on his wife, and fathering kids out of wedlock.
He understands the need for privacy all right -- as long as it benefits him.
**** you, Jesse. :redbird:

Possible. After all, if I were related to the poverty pimp Jesse Jackson after the Treyvon Walker cluster**** blowed up in their faces, I'd probably want to eat a gun barrel myself.

It was just released that Jesse Jackson Jr. is being treated for a mood disorder. His doctor claimed that all calls about drug and alcohol abuse are false. I think his doctor is full of crap. Especially seeing that more and more Dems are demanding that he tell what is going on. His doctor said that because of HIPPA, he ain't telling squat. So we will probably never know what is going on.

I know what happend, Jr. tripped over his dog and beaned himself on the coffee table. Poor man was unconscious for 5 hours.
He awoke in the hospital and was sent home to stay in bed for 2 days. The maid had left Fox news on the TV 24/7 and when he finally awoke, he found he was thinking like a Republican.
Poor man, when the head ache went away and he was able to controll his bowells, he dressed and went to meetings with the liberals that were outside his new found upstanding.
No matter what he he had to say was now taken with a grain of salt by his advisers, fans, family or his advisers.
Poor fella, what the heck is wrong with him, somethings wrong here. So He was dragged off to a Hospital that specialises in " Mood Disorders " to see if there is any way to cleans the impure thoughts from his mind.
Note that only blood relatives will speak to the press, wife and her family are on the outside now.
Moral to the story, It is true that mans best friend is a dog, perhaps JR. was lucky to have the accident, this incident may lead him to an honerable life, if the family ever allowes him to leave the clinic and he refuses to take the medication given him.

Hi,
Why all the secrecy? My wife has a perfectly logical theory. As an avid watcher of the History Channel and the like, she figures Jr. was the subject of an intervention. The family knew he needed help, inteviened and whisked him away to the looney bin, dry out facility and rehab center. She says the sees that kind of stuff on TV all the time.
God forbid the alcoholic, druggie would lose his seat in congress. He probably figured he was doing nothing wrong with the company he keeps.

AIDS? Drug Rehab?
My bet would be either AIDS or he's gone too mental to be trotted out in public. I think for drug rehab they'd try to play the sympathy angle instead of hiding the ball, Americans and espeically the stupid emo DemonRat base voters love a redemption story, and reality TV has not only taken the stigma out of drug rehab but even made it somewhat fashionable.
Whatever it is, his handlers must have decided it has a zero-to-negative sympathy value.

I obviously don't have any idea what is wrong with him, but I agree with you DAT, that it's something other than just drugs and/or alcohol rehab for the same reasons.
Getting treatment for drugs/alcohol is so common anymore, and as seen as courageous(which it is!) as opposed to not dealing with the problem and hiding it and one's subsequent behavior when "under the influence". Many people who in up in treatment facilities, often get there due to family/friends/coworkers interventions. Of the people I have known that have gone into treatment facilities, that have been kept "top secret" so to speak, have been a couple of local doctors. Even with them, it got around the medical community and their social circles, within a few weeks, that they were in "treatment" and whether it was pills or alcohol ( I knew 2 personally that went - 1 for pills and 1 for alcohol). Residential treatment facilities were a condition of keeping their medical licenses. Both went on to 20+ years of successful medical practices. One retired, and unfortunately the other one (that I knew well) died 2 yrs ago from ALS.
Even depression has lost it's stigma, as so many people are legitimately being diagnosed with chronic/clinical depression. It is a real illness, just as bipolar is. But those are also treatable with medication and don't usually involve residential treatment, unless, there were attempted suicide episodes prior to treatment. Years ago, (20+) both the ex's mother and niece attempted suicide. They were both in Nebraska at the time, both ended up in the hospital as a result, and both went directly from hospital to residential treatment facility. At that time, the state of NE required a minimum 30 day stay in a residential treatment center after a suicide attempt. I don't know what states require now, but here in TN suicide attempts are only kept a mandatory 72 hours in either the hospital or treatment center, if that long.
I don't see how JJJ's "problem" can just be drugs/alcohol/depression, even if it's a combination of those things as being something to hide, unless a suicide attempt was made. If he did try suicide, maybe he tried with something that did visible physical harm to his body....like with a gun. Women will usually use pills or slit their wrists. Men tend to be more violent.
The other thing too, is that he is in Arizona. Mayo Clinic has a huge facility in Phoenix. Maybe he's getting a combination of treatments - psych and plastic....
If this was a Republican, the MSM would already have all the nitty-gritty details.
Diggin' into JJJ's issue won't be as persistant by the MSM, cause they probably are afraid of being called racist if they do....

How lucky he is to have --His People---- Who the heck are HIS People ?????
Betcha he knocked up a 13 year old daughter of a family friend. / Or got outed as a Gay male / or is being blackmailed for dipping into the till too often. Gambling debts and the Mob is after him ?
Seems that only blood family is now in charge of protecting him and themselves from some folly he may have fallen into.
How does this happen to a straight arrow, a family man from an influential family ?? Drugs, drink, fiancees or romances ??
What ever it is sad to watch anyone be they rich or poor to go off the rails and self distruck.

Hi,
Goal might be to get him elected in absentee. Then he resigns and the governor can auction off his seat and split the profit with dad.

I couldn't remember. It's been a while since I saw her, but I thought the last time I saw her she sounded too conservative for the Jackson clan.

World's smallest violin playing for Jesse Jackson Jr.
Thomas Lifson
If you thought that Jesse Jackson Jr. had an easy life, growing up the son of a multimillionaire racism entrepreneur, with a seat in Congress virtually handed to him on a platter because of his father's position in Chicago black politics, think again. It turns out, according to his mommy, that he has had a life of "enormous disappointment." Poor Jesse! Poor mommy, too, for now it turns out, according the Jacqueline Jackson, that she was "tricked" into speaking out publicly about her son's years of disappointment.
The bizarre saga of the political Jackson family just gets more and more outlandish. The Congressman took off work for two weeks with no explanation, later informing his constituents that he was in treatment for "exhaustion," later upgraded to treatment for "mood disorder" at a rehab facility in Arizona.
Yesterday, in Chicago, mama Jackson addressed a Rainbow/Push gathering of women of her son's disappointments. Abdon M. Pallasch of the Chicago Sun-Times writes:
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s mother, Jacqueline Jackson, told a Rainbow/PUSH conference Friday that her son has suffered years of "enormous disappointment."
"I'm not ashamed to say ... he thought he was going to be a senator. He thought he was going to have a chance to run for mayor. And young people don't bounce back from disappointment like me and my husband," she said.
For the record, the Congressman is 47 years old. I guess that still counts as young in a mother's eyes, but to ,post people it connotes an age in which adulthood should be well established as a behavioral mode.
I can affirm that it is very disappointing not to be a mayor or a senator. But some of us manage to buck up and continue working in the face of not being a mayor or a senator. I have done so my entire life, as a matter of fact, and have given up hope of ever being a mayor or a senator. It s just one of those things one adjusts to in the course of growing up. For the record, not being an astronaut and a movie star were even bigger disappointments.
In the wake of this bizarre excuse for her son's behavior, Mrs. Jackson has claimed that she was "tricked" into speaking out at the luncheon. You can see this report on a WGN TV news segment here. Since the luncheon was organized by her husband's own organization, this would seem to indicate the presence of a saboteur. Oh, what a tangled web.
Meanwhile, according to former Chicago Tribune editor Dennis Byrne, now writing for the website Chicago Now, the grown ups in the Democratic Party are beginning to be concerned that Jackson's seat could even fall to the GOP if he doesn't get his act together:
Tribune columnist John Kass figures senior Democrats are the ones demanding answers because Rep. Jackson's old man, the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. is no longer feared, by other Democrats or the media. While I agree with John that Jackson Sr. is far from the power-house of old, I think there's more to it. Namely, the Democratic old boys and girls network are worried about losing a sure house seat.
Unlikely? Sure, but then, you never know....
With Democrats hanging on to retain every seat they have in the GOP-controlled House of Representatives they want to count on sure-things, and with Illinois voters having a record of voting for people they don't know, there's always a chance that one of Jackson's two opponents might pull off an upset.
The seat ought to be safe, but it was redistricted to include more suburban voters, and in a year when Democrats remember the 2010 wipeout, they do have a right to be worried.
One can only hope that the party pros try to lean on Jesse Jr., sparking resistance from the Jackson political machine. There is nothing quite like internecine warfare to weaken a party.

Yes, that was her on Hannity last night defending Obama. Before that segment, Hannity gave his condolences to her and her family for her brother. That is when she said that the family is keeping mum on the whole situation.

Mr Tanker that is some visual you have given us, from one who enjoys dark humor, Thank You.
What, few mothers are not going to find some way to excuse their children's behavior even when the child becomes a serial killer.
Me thinks this child of hers was too lazy to WORK as his Dad did, expected to ride in on the coattails of Dad and friends. Most likely disappointed that Obama a no one from obscure life made it big with little work and he the son of Super Star was not able to get any where without the family name.
This man went off the rails in some fashion due to his own actions. as a grown adult, he is not 14 years old.
This kinds of reminds me of a politician that went hiking for a few weeks without telling Anyone where he was.
Come to find out he was shacked up with the love of his life and soul mate off shore.
Dark humor, sure, the NJ Governor that ran off from his job and family with his love of his life another male.
Tap dancing Senators in airport restrooms, darn I bet they were all disappointed to get CAUGHT.
BTW, from the 1980's when the gays wore some kind of flag be it color of tie or hankerchief to send a signal to others . Paranoid I may be but watching the news interviews I have noticed a strange thing.
Why do men dress in dark suits, black socks and wear brown shoes. ????? Some of the interviewers that have come out as gay do so, as well as those they interview. Gays use flags to identify themselves, so I wonder about the new fad of brown shoes with black suits. Questioning minds want to know.
