In a veto statement yesterday, Patrick slammed his reform-intent rivals for “political grandstanding†with their efforts to ban EBT buys of guns, porn, tattoos, jewelry and manicures, insisting reforms were already on track without the Legislature’s meddling. That drew return fire from irate lawmakers.
“A lot of people in the Legislature, and a lot of taxpayers for that matter, believe there are a lot of problems with our EBT system,†said state Sen. Robert Hedlund (R-Weymouth). “Some of us have worked hard to try to address those problems. Some of us actually take our jobs seriously, and to be accused of political grandstanding, I think it’s irresponsible and immature of the governor to speak that way.â€

I'll bet with 3 copies of Hustler magazine, your average welfare and food stamp recipient can make one helluva cheese fondue. :whatever:
Patrick is a ****stick, but hell, it's Masshole, Taxachusetts, and it's what they expect from their governator.

The state legislature will override this veto. Deval is running for president in 2016 kids. What fun we will have then.

Yep he does -
The leader of the Massachusetts House of Representatives on Monday pledged to override the governor's rejection of the Legislature's new restrictions on electronic benefit cards for welfare recipients.

None of the House minions would dare say no to DeLeo, and I don't see the Senate siding with the good governor either. This is a loser for Deval.

From the OP article:
State Rep. Shaunna O’Connell (R-Taunton) said, “These benefits are for the necessities of life. Not for jewelry, not for manicures, not to get a makeover.â€
Damn right!
I think all State's should enact such restrictions on EBT transactions.
