My conversation w/ a Republican Bank President
byZacapoetFollow
..........
Yesterday I ran into Jim and his wife at Starbucks and they noticed my Obama 2012 button, though they didn't make a big deal about it. We talked about the jobs numbers, how things could be much better. And then Jim made a startling statement: "The GOP Congress is to blame for the lackluster economy."
His reasoning, which his wife agreed with, was that the Tea Party has taken over the agenda and they are creating so much uncertainty that business is leery of jumping into the investment pool. He went on to say that this November the Country has to get behind Obama so that the Tea Party can finally be marginalized.
In other words--his Party has to lose at the National level in order to reconstitute itself back to a reasonable facsimile of the America that works for the common good.
Jim and I discussed the need for infrastructure and how government spending now, while the private sector was deleveraging and investment was stagnant, would be the remedy to picking up GDP, until enough consumers were working and deleveraged and able to be self-generating.
Obviously, hearing this from a decent, conservative, reasonable man; a pillar of our community, made me feel that the message is finally getting thru. We on the 'left' must realize that ideological purity is not the path to electoral victory. Jim is voting for Obama because he represents the solid alternative, not because he wants to live in the Paris Commune.

How many budgets has Obama signed? how many bills have made it out of the House and have gone nowhere in the Senate?
-
I like how the Tea Party is responsible - the same Tea Party that DU refers to as having no effect - as having 'imploded'... which is it ?

How? Did they go back in time and force the 110th congress (dems controlling both sides) to screw up the economy?

4. He needs to speak his views in public.
That's not going to happen because he's a make-believe banker. Maybe Tom Hanks or Alan Alda could play the role of the banker in an ad for Obama? That might work.

When you meet Obamanuts in public, don't argue with them. Just say a few stupid things you know they want to hear and go on about your business in peace. You can't change their minds, they don't have one. So why waste your time.

Can you copyright an entire genre of stories? If so, DU should sue.

Did anyone see a picture of KPete yet?

Making fun of those with significant cognitive disabilities? What a tough guy you are. Asshole.

Talk about your lazy DUmmie, kapete has to rip off someone else's bouncy.

Yep, the powerless, self-destructing Tea Party created the huge uncertainty about healthcare costs, the fears of ever-increasing tax rates, and while they were at it, turned the VRWC weather machine to "HOT" in order to fan the flames of "global climate change."

Don't tell anyone but that model of VRWC weather machine has been replaced with one that has a special "global climate change" setting. The new machine causes it to get hot sometimes and cold other times. By doing it that way it tricks normal people into thinking that it's just the weather. Only brilliant minds like those at the DUmp can see the real picture.

To be fair, it helps a lot that those brilliant minds have somehow concluded that all the droughts in Africa and the Middle East that have been recorded for the last 6000 years are NOW caused by climate change because they are also happening to this continent. ::)

I missed that one. Are our industries supposed to be the cause of all that to? Even for the last 6000 years? Did we send pollution back in time? I ask these stupid questions because nothing they come up with surprises me any more.

I myself enjoy the 'Random' setting - while the United States had a nice mild 'Global Warming' confirming winter, Europe and Northern Africa got to suffer record breaking cold and snowfall amounts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_European_cold_wave
Another fun feature is the Micro Climate setting - with a few GPS coordinates, its possible to make it snow on top of Al Gore while he is giving a Global Warming lecture anywhere in the world.

I do agree that it probably could be a smack to anyone with a cognitive disability being compared to KPete. But I also, if anything, think it makes them look better, as they are smarter than KPete will ever be.

What's this DUmmie doing hanging around this one percenter? Can't they come up with new material? It's always the same stories, day in and day out.

They do have a theory that the dinosaurs were wiped out due more to global warming than an asteroid...because they farted too much. Seriously! Saw it on Scientific American or some similar site about a month ago. ::)

Now that would be clean, green energy. We raise corn, feed the dinosaurs, capture farts and run the power plants. Haul the ...uh...uh...particulate matter out and fertilize the corn fields....round and round we go.
