Please stop calling conservatives "neoliberals".
They are nothing of the sort. Libertarians can be called neoliberal but not conservatives. Conservatives are authoritarian and saying otherwise besmirches the Liberal brand.
Even Ayn Rand tried to distance herself from Conservatism.
However, this isn't the reason I posted this thread - this is :-)
1. conservative and neoliberal are conceptually different
A conservative is someone who believes the human condition will improve if everyone follows the existing rules.
A liberal is someone who believes that tweeking or altering the existing rules withing the existing system will hasten improvement.
In the 18th century, liberalism sought to remove traditional ancienne regime economic restrictions that protected the ruling class in favor of a market driven free enterprise system. Neoliberalism seeks to remove all artificial economic restrictions (labor protection, economic, protection of local business) in favor of global capitalism.
Also, a radical is someone who wants to alter or replace the existing system with a new one. A reactionary is someone who wants to roll back what others consider to be improvements in favor of an idealized and usually imaginary earlier society.
Suffice it to say that those on the political right in the USA are not conservatives. They are reactionary to the point of being cavemen.
