I bet if you put up a lot of those quotes without a name people would agree with them and then be horrified when they learned who said them.

True, thing is, not everything he said was wrong just because he said it or used it as a means to a bad end, but people recoil unthinkingly from anything with his name attached to it. I'm sure at some point he said "You know, I really like dogs a lot better than cats," and without his name attached to it, a lot of us could agree with that...not so much if he went on to say "...Because cats remind me of Jews." You have to be able to draw a line between analysis and opinion, and a lot of people can't.
