Gee what a shock, Holder's agency won't prosecute Holder.  :whatever:

4. This was expected

<snip>
The United States Justice Department said it will not prosecute Attorney General Eric Holder for contempt of Congress.

"The Department has determined that the Attorney General's response to the subpoena issued by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform does not constitute a crime, and therefore the Department will not bring the congressional contempt citation before a grand jury or take any other action to prosecute the Attorney General," the Deputy Attorney General told House Speaker John Boehner in a letter.

As we reported, the House voted that Holder was in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over documents related to the gun-walking operation "Fast and Furious." The White House has claimed executive privilege on the emails and documents, saying they show internal deliberation after the program became public.

The AP reports that this means Holder's own department will do nothing further on matter.

Issa also knew that his witch hunt was going nowhere.

Ohh this so called witch hunt has shown the American people how corrupt this administration is. Holder had the nerve to prosecute Clemmons for lying to congress when he has lied several times to congress himself. Now in order to protect his sorry ass, he gets his buddy Barry to claim EP. Just how much power do these clowns have to abuse before you idiots catch on?

Yep.  Makes a great case for an independent counsel, too.

ETA - I would love to hear the Romney camp, especially Mitt himself, come out and say he'll turn over everything if elected in the name of accountability, and let the chips fall where they may.

Gee, it's too bad they passed "civil" contempt yesterday too. And I'm assuming Issa can shop the court to bring it in.  I might suggest the judge that threw out Holdem's restraining order on FL yesterday.

DUmbasses.

If they weren't so full of piss, vinegar, and self-importance, they would have realized that they could have weakly prosecuted Holder and he would have not been guilty of anything. Now Issa gets to find the nastiest lawyer on the planet to go after Holder instead.

Darrell Issa Puts Details of Secret Wiretap Applications in Congressional Record
By Jonathan Strong
Roll Call Staff
June 29, 2012, 12:06 p.m.

...

The wiretap applications are under court seal, and releasing such information to the public would ordinarily be illegal. But Issa appears to be protected by the Speech or Debate Clause in the Constitution, which offers immunity for Congressional speech, especially on a chamber’s floor.

According to the letter, the wiretap applications contained a startling amount of detail about the operation, which would have tipped off anyone who read them closely about what tactics were being used.

Holder and Cummings have both maintained that the wiretap applications did not contain such details and that the applications were reviewed narrowly for probable cause, not for whether any investigatory tactics contained followed Justice Department policy.

The wiretap applications were signed by senior DOJ officials in the department’s criminal division, including Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jason Weinstein, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco and another official who is now deceased.

...

The tactic, which was intended to allow agents to track criminal networks by finding the guns at crime scenes [???], was condemned after two guns that were part of the operation were found at U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s murder scene.

What? That's the first I've seen it reported, as a fact, that the intent was actually murder -- that they'd track the guns via their appearance at murders (and other crime scenes).

Is that now established?

How do you track guns without tracking them? A: Apparently you just wait until they're used to kill people, then you know where they ended up.

http://ace.mu.nu/archives/330587.php

Lurkers,

You're president, by his invoking EP,  has admitted to the facilitation of the murdering of Mexican civilians and US LEOs for an anti-constitutional policy gambit.

Reading their thread, they don't get that yet.  That would be thinking past square one.

I believe Issa & co. expected that response. So, now he has license to seek independent investigations which will most likely lead to an independent prosecutor.

No doubt that Issa knew the DOJ wasn't going to prosecute their boss, hell even if they get an IP 0bama will just pardon him, and throw Issa in jail.

What's going to happen is this:  It will drag on through the election.  After January 20th, 2013, where Prresident Romney is inaugurated, if I were Eric Holder, I'd be looking into which countries do not have extradition treaties with the United States, and I'd get to one of them immediately.

Another fly in Holdem's ointment.  seems Issa slipped a copy of a DOJ wiretap document into the record yesterday during the debate. It clearly shows top level DOJ types knew what was going on.  The document was sealed but, through some Congressional machinations, Issa could place it in the record.

According to ask.com, the USA has had an extradition treaty with Ecuador since 1872, but another was signed in 1939.

Tough shit! :-) :fuelfire: O-)

Good idea.  Hadn't thought about that.

I was thinking more along the lines of a state Attorney General.  Preferably someone from a red state.

Greg Abbott comes to mind.

Less than four years to slip into third world status of a nation of men and not of laws.

Could you imagine the MSM shit storm if a republican administration had done this.

Question, when 0bama pardons Holder can Romney ignore it like 0bama does to so many of our laws and throw his ass in jail without trial?

We have a known criminal being the chief LEO and a known tax cheat being the head of the IRS. A big **** you to all of the republican senators that voted for Holder and Geitner, knowing their past criminal records.

Unfortunately, I don't think so.  Did Marc Rich ever get justice?

We can't blame this totally on 0bama, yes he is responsible for his own actions, however this could not happen without his enablers, the democrat party and the idiots on the left have allowed him to do this. The same people that wanted Bush thrown in jail for imaginary crimes, want 0bama and Holder protected form real crimes.  :banghead:

There's a beautiful symmetry there when you think about it (don't think too much though).

They were saying last night that the Congress expected this, which is why they went with the Civil Contempt vote. So now the Congress can appoint it's own investigation team to prosecute him. There is no need for the DOJ to do anything, or not do anything now.

I think everyone knew this was going to happen, the win in this, is we have made this an actual issue, before all this it was compared to the birther issue, now the AG has been held in contempt so the issue has been legitimized.

It's up to the people now to go out in November and show 0bama and Holder the door.

Bingo....The MSM has been forced to cover it. Further, it would be fantastic if Mitt would re-open the criminal investigation but I'm afraid we will have to settle for him forcing ABM to pardon Holdem and a shitload of his cronies.
