Title: Confrontation With TSA Agent Leaves Grandpa's Ashes On Floor
Post by: Mike220 on June 26, 2012, 01:37:07 PM
You go TSA. You're awesome at winning the hearts and minds of the American public.

Wish there was some politician out there that would be willing to nuke the TSA off the face of the planet.

Quote
INDIANAPOLIS -- A man's attempt to bring the ashes of his grandfather home to Indianapolis ended with an angry scene in a Florida airport, with the ashes spilled on the terminal floor.
...

"They opened up my bag, and I told them, 'Please, be careful. These are my grandpa's ashes,'" Gross told RTV6's Norman Cox. "She picked up the jar. She opened it up.

"I was told later on that she had no right to even open it, that they could have used other devices, like an X-ray machine. So she opened it up. She used her finger and was sifting through it. And then she accidentally spilled it."

Gross says about a quarter to a third of the contents spilled on the floor, leaving him frantically trying to gather up as much as he could while anxious passengers waited behind him.

"She didn't apologize. She started laughing. I was on my hands and knees picking up bone fragments. I couldn't pick up all, everything that was lost. I mean, there was a long line behind me."

I'd bet my life savings the TSA will do an "investigation" and find she did nothing wrong. Hell, she might get a promotion out of it.

Which is precisely why SIL shipped the ashes UPS before hand.  She was not about to let that happen.  The TSA always pats her down she is cute and built.

I must admit I was a little creeped out having ashes show up by UPS but it worked out fine.

I'm not proud of this but several years ago my Grandmother died.  She had been at war with the entire family for years.  She passed away in CA & my Aunt shipped the ashes to my Dad UPS.  When talking amongst ourselves, we said Grandma got her ashes hauled by UPS.

The TSA is nothing more than government over reaction to 9/11.  The unintended consequences of the government's stupid over reaction is beginning to really show, and will unfortunately be with us for decades.

That over reaction was caused by one thing, the unwillingness to use profiling.
