Legislation would aim to cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Barack Obama (D-IL), Chuck Hagel (R-NE) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) have introduced the Global Poverty Act (S.2433), which requires the President to develop and implement a comprehensive policy to cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015 through aid, trade, debt relief, and coordination with the international community, businesses and NGOs. Representatives Adam Smith (D-WA) and Spencer Bachus (R-AL) sponsored the House version of the bill (H.R. 1302), which passed the House in September.
“Eliminating global poverty remains one of the greatest challenges we face, with billions of people around the world forced to live on just dollars a day,†said Senator Obama. “We can – and must – make it a priority of our foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America’s standing in the world, this legislation will not only commit to reducing global poverty, but will also demonstrate our promise and support to those in the developing world. Our commitment to the global economy has to extend beyond trade agreements that are more about increasing corporate profits than about helping workers and small farmers everywhere.â€
“Poverty, hunger, and disease will be among the most serious challenges confronting the world in the 21st century,†Senator Hagel said. “This legislation provides the President of the United States the framework and resources to help implement a comprehensive policy to reduce global poverty. It is the human condition that has always driven the great events of history. This is a responsibility of all citizens of the world.â€

Global War on poverty??? What a load of crap....there is no way to control conditions in other countries, unless we go in and "take care" of leaders that are worthless. And when we do that, the leftisits complain.

Great. Another war on poverty. :whatever:
This one's gonna cost you, I read somewhere, don't know where, to the tune of 800 Billion dollars. So we ship the money over to the poverty stricken countries the despot dictators confiscate it just like they always do and bam, guess what, everyone in those shithole countries are still impoverished and it's all our fault cause we eat well and set our thermostats at 72 degrees! :rotf:
Obama = Marxist=socialist.
-
Why is this our problem? Note to Congress: STOP BLOWING MY F'N MONEY!
-
Why is this our problem?
Damn beat me to it.
-
I believe the price tag on this baby is $850B over 10 years. we are going to be very busy once we make every child in the world our responsibility.
-
Sigh. Let's just make America a third world hellhole and be done with it. Then we can all be equally miserable. Isn't that the goal here???
And they have been fighting the war on poverty for how long now? Anyone else find it odd that we can't seem to win it? Couldn't be because poor people are being used as a political tool? Nah... :whatever:

'We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK'...Barack Obama (http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5h-wpxs1Re-8vx2Zk5xnYygW1W67w)

Notice how he played right into the libtard envy? Classic dirty politics. Paint everyone who owns an SUV, doesn't have to clip coupons and can afford to leave their thermostat wherever they want as unfeeling, selfish and THE impediment to progress.
The ironic part (well there are several!) is that Oooobama clearly hasn't taken a stroll down streets in the U.S. that are heavily populated with immigrants (most notably ILLEGALS). With few exceptions, these immigrants fit the same "greedy consumer" mold he's trying to put on all of us. They drive SUV's, buy "whatever they want at the grocery store" and jack that thermostat down to icebox level. Why? Because they frickin' can!!! Compared to where they came from, this is the land of milk and honey. They are probably making 10 times the money they could make in their homeland and they aren't afraid to spend it. Of course that doesn't address the fact that a lot of these immigrants (most notably ILLEGALS) are also on the govt dole. We're paying for their conspicious consumption! Where's Ooooobama's outrage now?
I'm really sick and tired of this Citizen of the World crap. It's bullshit.

Yep, is anyone else, besides swooning Husseinites, still under the presumption that my fellow "World Citizens" wouldn't gladly spill your guts for the contents of your wallet? The recent murder of the Italian artist that was murdered in Turkey while traveling the globe for "world peace" and "awareness" comes to mind.

Farking Hell. Talk about your insult to injury! :banghead:
Was there a Constitution burning party recently and my invitation just got lost in the mail? :banghead:
Is it to late to go back to taxation without representation? :p

If that quote right there doesn't prove to people just exactly how much of a Marxist Barak really is...then there is no hope.
