Before ditching a stolen sport utility vehicle with a baby inside Wednesday afternoon, the car thief swiped the baby's earrings, police said Thursday.

Nariya, the 1-year-old baby, was not injured in the scary ordeal that ended with an emotional reunion with her mother in downtown Allentown.

People like that should just be taken out and shot after they're found guilty.

Perhaps thief is too strong a word.  Do we really know his/her/its situation. There must have been reasons this person was driven to crime.  Who are we to judge. Maybe he/she/it just wanted to touch those beautiful things just once in his/her/it's life. Or, possibly we could just smack the crap out of them with a 2X4.

Yeah really, can't y'all have sympathy for someone who is so downtrodden by that evil Bush, that they have to resort to stealing SUVs from the 1%?

It's culture my dear, culture.

Surprised the heck out of me to run into an Indian acquaintance with her 2 year old daughter at the mall. That baby had on earrings, a necklass and a ankle bracelet made from Asian gold.

Few sell that stuff up here, have to go to China Town in Boston------easy to spot, the color is different from every day gold as it is cut with a metal different to what we buy in the USA.

Culture, our immigrants from over seas are use to the get out of town fast and having to barter themselves out of country's and cross borders when all hell kicks up.

This jewelry will be put away in a few years and kept as a dowry for the girls in the future.  The friend and baby had just come from some kind of religious ceremony and both were all dolled up.  Not every day wear for the child or mother.

One never knows, I have as I am sure you also seen surveillance tapes of older woman getting knocked down for a gold necklass in the street, I shudder to think of a child being grabbed for their jewelry.

So who knows it the child's earrings came from Walmart or were handed down from a grandparent and worth $500.00 and the parents did not know the value.  Thieves know much more about the value of stuff then we do.

Something strange about this story anyway, they said the baby was unhurt.   So a stranger steals a car with a baby in it, decides to ditch the car but takes the time to carefully remove the baby's earrings.    No easy feat to do so and not leave anykind of mark or redness on the baby's ears.   This child most likely would have been scared and having a stranger face to face have twisted away from them.

Then the mother, I noticed she was barefoot, how long had that baby been in the car ?    Was she driving barefoot ???         Insurance scam ?????

Vesta, being new here, I may be out of line.  But, it seems to me you tend to overthink things. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.  The problem lies in that you tend to type your thoughts and drop them in a forum.  This causes others to read your thoughts and suffer the consequences. In my case, I tend to go into a grand mal seizure immediately after reading approximately ten lines of your posts.

Too much Agatha Christie in my youth.

This is the reason people cannot read others minds, one could not stay sane and human if we could.

You are not out of line in any way, you just mirror the thoughts of others that have told me the same thing.

Relax Big Dog, I hand out tongue depressors to those that get the same reaction as you.

They were only allowing her like 75 words per post.  I think that should be put into effect again.

I would gladly settle for anything less than 10 lines. Thanks for the offer of tongue depressors (wife has been using the cat's tail, making neither of us happy)
