Businesses do not exist to create jobs.
Businesses exist to create profit.
This is a fundamental flaw in the Romney claim that we need a businessman in the White House.
Two businessmen in the White House were total disasters: Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush
Just heard this argument made on the Melissa Harris Perry show.
Great points!

And the community organizer has done a great job?

7. I look at it differently....
businesses won't "create jobs" if they can make profits without doing so.
Businesses often have to be coerced into creating jobs. That's what tax and trade policies are supposed to do.
I wish DUmmies would be coerced into getting off their lazy asses and doing something for themselves, and quit demanding that everything be handed to them.

8. True and now they are apparently more profitable than ever and not creating jobs
We need to get away from the imperative that every person have a job (it seems to be a morality thing) - it is not as if they are always out there to do. If people don't fit in to the current capitalist mode, then they ought to be provided for in some way.
And as soon as we get rid of the man who wants to take all their profits away from them, they just may create some more jobs.
I keep hearing how bad Bush was, but even on the worst day economically during his two terms we were doing a whole hell of a lot better than we are under Mr hope n change.

How does business make profit without some commodity/service produced by employees?
This isn't even a chicken-egg type thing.
No employees means no product, no profit.

DUmmies have no understanding of how these things work, sadly our preezy is the same way.

Bingo. Its been like this at DU ever since Lord O said, "The private sector is fine." and the DUmmies are all on a public sector kick. Only govt jobs can save us!
The point is, The public sector is supported entirely by the private sector. Without a healthy (and profitable) private sector: There is NO public sector.
I think the DUmmies idolize the goldbricking nature of govt work. As a kid, I worked for the State of Arizona delivering inter-office mail. For every department that worked there were three with nothing to do. The state was bloated with unproductive labor.

Even if one accepts the simplistic view that businesses are designed to create profit, how can that be possible without creating jobs as a side effect ? Something as simple as a successful home-based business in web design that employs exactly one person results in people working in a datacenter maintaining server uptime. Consider DU in its prime - three guys run a website that became so massive it required a small fortune in hardware to operate - and a few IT professionals to maintain the hardware.
Any other business that produces physical goods will employ far more if it becomes successful.
Well, I can't expect them to understand this. It's Trickle Down Economics 101. All primitives seem to lack the intellectual capacity to understand that it is impossible to grow a business without at least paying others for goods and services, if not employing them outright.
Its as if a successful baker has flour, yeast, eggs and sugar magically appear in their cupboards every morning.

A subtle pie reference. Bravo Zulu and ^5!

Recently Boojatta has been regaling us with "alternates to economics dogma".
Maybe he would indulge us with some alternates.

If you believe that, then *you* do it. Just don't involve the gov't and keep your hands out of my wallet. Got it?

Once again you display an intellecutal business knowledge equal to the depth of a kiddie pool.
And you prove what anyone who took High School history knows...that Socialists/Communists believe that jobs are created by the government.
Just heard this argument made on the Melissa Harris Perry show.
:whatever: Of course...God forbid you come up with an original thought.
Great points!
Only for a DUmmie.

Come on now! Everyone knows that businesses exist to give free healthcare to employees.

For the love of Pete, even Marx didn't go THAT far.

These people actually get dumber and dimmer every day.
If a sane person tried to answer this idiocy, were it just sprung on them in the course of conversation they may well sputter and choke, confirming to the moonbat that it is an unarguable point. But, in truth, it is so far beyond the pale, one wonders how the DUmmie is able to breath on its own.
DUmmies, business create jobs by offering a successful service or product. Success means expansion. Expansion means many things, it can result in the direct hiring of employees or indirectly using already existing firms to meet the growing businesses needs.
Government, at best can encourage jobs by removing obstacles to business and refraining from creating monopolies and such. Government can encourage market growth by providing stability by just enforcement of laws and contracts instead of capriciously taking over a failed auto company, cheating the bond holders, installing ideological allies as CEOs, and having the already failed auto company produce cars nobody wants to buy.
