1. That Greenwood song is so awful

Ugh. Horrendous.

5. I'll vote for "Tax Man"
I think McCartney must've written that one, a howl of protest by someone who's paid much more than anyone has any right to be paid against the government taking part of it because it's what allowed the stability that enabled him to rake all that money in.
I've always hated tax whiners. This song is their anthem.
Yes, it does suck to give up 95% to the tax man....

15. Tax Man was written at a time when the top rate was something like 90% or more in the UK

Paul's my 4th favorite Beatle, but the majority of his money was made as a result of his own work or collaboration with a few others, not trying to use money to manipulate the production of others.
edit to add: Looked up to verify, written by George after he saw what the 95% super tax in 1966 was taking from his earnings. Given his charitable work through the years, think his initial anger was well channeled in his later life.
PS: Don't think most liberals begrudge high earners, just the attitude that everything should be heaped on the working class and poor.
Bull - To a lib 100% is about there but they also would want to vaccum up anything that got missed in previous years..

48. I think every liberal on DU would agree that 95% is too high of a tax
Even though I want to soak the rich, at most I'd go after 60-75%

26. They left out the most egregious one of all - God Bless America
appalling rubbish that
If you are so damn unhappy just leave....

This is surprisingly mixed.
On the one hand, I of course am not surprised in the least that so many songs about loving one's country made the list. Even when the DUmmies have one of their own in the White House, they're still filled to bursting with hatred of their own country (GoneOffShore earns extra douche- points for bringing up 'God Bless America,' a time- honored song that would make a good second- place candidate for our national anthem). Miserable, treasonous scum.
On the other hand, I AM suprised that:
1. A Beatles song made the list (The DUmmies normally love fawning over them), yet Darryl Worley's 'Have You Forgotten' didn't make the list (I'd have thought it would be there for the same reason that the patriotic songs made the list).
2. Some of the DUmmies criticize Paul McCartney. He's almost as much of an obnoxiously self- righteous ultra- liberal as John Lennon was (i.e. He demands that everyone who works for him be a vegetarian, and a few years ago fired two of his roadies because he caught them eating hamburgers; If I were one of them, I'd sue the jerk for discrimination/ unfair termination), you'd think the DUmmies would worship the ground he walks upon.

They are so allergic to Lee Greenwood's song. They wail, gnash their teeth. I hope Hell for them is that song played over and over. Me, I adore that song.
"The Trees" is a strange song, I've always thought. Why does it bug liberals?

That song makes tears well up in my eyes each time it's played.

I loathe country music but when I was stationed in Germany if "God Bless the USA" came on we would stand on our chairs singing and holding our lighters high while swaying to the music.
It made the Germans eye us nervously.

I know this is not a song that annoys liberals but they get really pissed when you ignore the "irony" of the song on purpose.

Look up the lyrics for The Trees.
There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.
The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.
There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

All of the members of Rush are Libertarians and The Trees is all about what socialism accomplishes is death and misery.
Not surprised that the DUchebags hate it.
-
Oh, OK. Thanks for posting the lyrics, BEG. I just never listened to it all the way through.
-
Why don't they just come out and say they hate this country and everything it is? What a bunch of wankers.
-

Yeah the whole drug test thing gets him everytime. Trying not to wish bad on people, but the drug boy makes it difficult.
