DETROIT MainStreet) -- For me, it is the Chevrolet Vega.
I was living in Toledo, Ohio, in the late 1970s and working as a reporter for The Toledo Blade. One day, I was preparing to drive a friend's Vega. I sat down in the driver's seat and put my foot on the floor in front of me, about to step on the gas. And guess what happened?
It's not a tough question if you were ever in a Vega. My foot went right through the rusty floor. And for the ensuing three decades, I have had my own story about the worst car ever made.
Events like my Vega experience make a big impression on drivers, says Edmunds.com Editor-in-Chief Scott Oldham. "Everyone I know who had a Vega has a story like that," he says. "Even now, GM(GM_) is still paying for the ill will towards the Vega. A lot of the people who bought Vegas won't buy a GM car, and their kids and grandkids won't buy GM cars either."
Yet as bad as the Vega was, it is not the worst car ever, according to Edmunds.com. About two dozen Edmunds.com staffers spent a couple of months refining a list of the 100 worst cars ever. They started with individual lists of bad cars, compiled them and put the cars in order, accompanied by lots of discussions, emails and meetings.
Our list is limited to Edmunds' top 10. We will tell you right now that the Vega is ranked as only the fifth-worst car ever built and that the competition to be the worst car ever was extremely intense

1958 Edsel Corsair
It may have been a bloated embarassment to Ford at the time, but I want one. Even if it's only for a week.
And I laughed when I saw the Saturn Ion on the list.

I'm not looking at that list till I'm sure none of my cars are on it.

broken link

:rotf:
Pontiac Aztek.
Our neighbor has one of those and I just want to vomit when I see it. I think he has the only Aztek in Las Vegas.

Proof that GM didn't deserve a bailout.

I get a broken link, but I would bet odds that at least ONE of my previous cars made it.
Chevette
Subaru (88 four door sedan)
Ford Aspire (It Aspired to be a car)
Saturn SC2 (I loved that car!)
Saturn Astra (Thank you GM for hosing up a perfectly good Vauxhall)
Just traded the last POS in for a VW, and am so pleased.

The 2003 Saturn Ion was on the list which is the closet of any car on your list.

Only for the badge, my 2000 SC2 was an awesomely reliable car. I drove it for over 200K. The Astra? P.O.S. So sad. GM totally sucks.

I think they only made them in one color (yellow).

We have a 2002 SL2 with about 50K miles on it. We hope to keep it for a long time.

Mine was turquoise with pink pinstripes, and it was given to me for free!

I hope you do. I hated to lose mine.

I had a Saturn. A 2000 LS.
It was the most underpowered, noisy, and crappy car I'd ever owned, aside from my '62 Valiant.
The only thing nice about that car was the bun warmers. Electric heaters in the leather seats were really handy in the winter, along with the electric side view mirror defrosters. Apart from that, the air conditioning sucked donkey balls and the 2.2L POS engine was missing at least 3 hamsters.
Mrs E is shopping for a 2012, now that the 2013's are coming out. Her Honda Accord with 205,000 makes me nervous. Her commute is 38 miles one-way and she's already had a clutch slave cylinder go out on her. I do NOT want her breaking down on her commute. Too much riff-raff out there.
Anyway, she's looking real, real hard at the Hyundai Sonata. We rented one a few years ago and really liked it.

My neighbor actually has a gold/tan one. It's almost the same color as my car. A few weeks after he moved in, he said we both had good taste in car colors. Too bad we couldn't say the same about car types.

I loved Wayne's World and the Bohemian Rhapsody scene is one of my all time faves of all time, but you have to admit, Wayne and Garth epitomize "loser" :loser: in a very endearing fashion.
