Unless Romney does something seriously horrible, this is going to be almost as ugly for the Dems as 1984--which coincidentally, is the last time WI went to the GOP.

But, what about the exit polls, man?!? :-)

Reality check: Things are looking ugly for November
Obama led in the May Reuters poll by 7%. His lead now shrank to 1%; and that's among RV, which judging by the fact that in the last 5 elections or so the likely voter sample has given Republicans a few extra points over Registered Vote samples, you can bet Romney is at least a bit ahead in the preferences. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/2012/reuters_ipsos_0612.pdf
In Florida, Romney is now ahead 0.2%, or we could say things are tied. That's not good. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/fl/florida_romney_vs_obama-1883.html
The latest Michigan poll has Romney ahead. This poll is only an outlier if subsequent polls again give Obama an edge' so we cannot say whether it's an outlier or the beginning of a new trend; but judging by the trend, I have little doubt things are looking ugly in Michigan as well.
Florida is tied up.
The more realistic we are about the tough situation we're in, the harder we can fight in order to reverse the trend.

without Florida. Romney essentially has to run the table on the Undecided states to get to 270.
I notice you don't mention Ohio and that's because Obama is wiping the floor with Romney among undecided voters and it's all due to Bain.
The popular vote means little; the electoral vote is all.

Mitt Romney has inched ahead of President Obama in Ohio, taking the lead in the key battleground state after the president has led there for several months.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Ohio Voters shows Romney with 46% support to Obama’s 44%. Six percent (6%) like some other candidate, and five percent (5%) remain undecided.

Well that is quite a turn around from DUmmie thinking in the past.

The closer we get to the election, the more Romney will gain and pull away. It is going to be a beautiful thing.

November is going to be delicious.

Obama is likely maxed out in his support. Everyone has now observed his action while in the oval office and made a decision, for good or ill. Hopey Changey isn't going to be working this time around.

Latest Electoral Map:

I took a look at 2004 and Kerry only won 17 states. That isn't much. Looking at it for Obama, he is only guaranteed 14 this time around. There three lean towards him, and nine that are swing. I don't think it looks good for him. His main thing is going to have to try and win the states with the high delegate counts. But I don't think that would even help him.

We got a respectable deligate count down here in TX. He would be wise to pour a s***load of money into TX & sweep to victory.

In 2004 and 2008, Texas went to the republican. The state is also gated to go the republican this year as well. Can you blame it? Texas is a great state with some great people. People who know the right direction this country should go :)

Did I need a sarc tag? For all our local county & city offices we only have one dem even running (sheriff) & he's dead meat. I just wanted him to spend a bunch of money in TX.
-
Tell me, which states did McCain carry in 2008 that the Magic One can hope to take this time around?
That's the base where Romney's starting from, and it's a pretty solid base.
The Magic One has to carry what he carried in 2008, because he's not likely to gain any new ones.
Well, he's behind in some states he carried in 2008.

Are you talking about Obama or Romney? If it is Obama, that would be awesome. Spend all that money there and lose the state. I would love that. :-)

I've always been proud of the fact that when both Nebraska and Texas combine in a presidential election, we together provide the (R) candidate with 1/8th of the electoral votes needed, to win.

You can look at the historical data of the map to see that. It shows it for both 2008 and 2004. McCain carried, I believe, 22 states in 2008?
Here is the map: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/election-map-2012/president/

And again, my question: which states did McCain win in 2008 that the Magic One can win in 2012?
None, and he's already lost that one electoral vote he got from Nebraska, much to our shame and humiliation.
On the flip side, which states did the Magic One win in 2008 that are now at risk?

O.k. I missunderstood what you were asking. He won't win any that McCain won in 2008. And there are a couple that he won in 2008 that he will not win this time.
I was quoting your post where you talked about Obama having to go after high deligate states.
O.k.I am sorry, guys. My brain has not been working right these past couple of days. There is way too much on my mind.

What I'm suggesting is that there's probably more than "a couple" of states that the Magic One won in 2008, that he won't get this time around.
And he has no chance of negating those losses with picking up states McCain won in 2008.

I can see that. I believe that is what will happen. With how much support he is losing, it is a given.

The only one I've really watched the primitives getting excited over is Arizona.
However, Arizona's Mormon population makes up roughly 6.5% of the population there.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with how Romney is running his campaign, especially since he wasn't my choice, ever. McCain seemed like he was terrified to challenge 0bama on anything. But so far Romney has quite the rapid response team. Newt was one Sean's radio show today and said he'd never seen a campaign so open and willing to listen to ideas and suggestions. I think Romney really wants it. He just may surprise us when he gets to the White House.

I heard Newt say the same thing. I, too, feel the same way about him. Maybe Ann Coulter was right all along about him--she said that because he changed his positions, it proved that he was willing to listen. If he's willing to listen to former rivals, there's hope for him. Maybe some of them can move his positions on the 2nd Amendment more to conservative positions.

"Surprise" is the LAST thing I want from the resident of the White House.
After the last 4 years, "stability" and "sanity" would be more welcome traits. :-)

Romney was battle-tested in Massachusetts - he knows damn well that once the liberal lie is launched, it must be shot down IMMEDIATELY., else the lie becomes common knowledge, and therefore "True".

Now, now...
That's not how its going to play in the media. When Romney changes a position, he 'flip-flops', whereas when Obama does, he 'evolves'.

On Day 1 Romney will sign an order to allow drilling ON OUR LAND!
Here's more:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/06/13/romney-details-first-100-days-says-obamas-words-are-cheap/
"I will in my first 100 days take action to eliminate government programs, to send a lot of government programs back to states where I limit the rate of growth at inflation, and to cut back the number of federal employees through attrition," Romney said. "And by the way, to link the pay of government workers with the pay that exists in the private sector. And those things save about $500 billion a year by my fourth year in office, if I am lucky enough to be elected, and get us to a balanced budget within eight to 10 years."
Also on Romney's to-do list: approving the controversial Keystone pipeline, slashing non-security discretionary government spending, reducing the number of government regulations and repealing 'Obamacare.'
-
^^ I seriously hope he is true to his word there, Ballygrl. I have faith that he will be.

Anna Wintour is a British, power hungry uber-capitalist bitch on wheels. She runs Vogue magazine, and ultimately decides everything it does. She is running a fundraising drive for Obama with Sarah Jessica Parker, at 40 thousand bucks a plate at her home. There are hoping to sell 50 40K dinners, and 250 10K dinners.
And the primitives went ballistic over Mitt Romney's 5K a plate dinner... but not a peep over this, go figure.. ::)

Comment of the day :lmao: in reference to snobby control freak Anna Wintour:
http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2012/06/anna-wintour-hates-sarah-jessica-parkers-house/53598/
People are whispering that Anna Wintour had decorators totally redo Sarah Jessica Parker's house in preparation for the big Obama fundraiser the two hosted at SJP's West Village mansion last night. Wintour, who's still dogged by that rather ridiculous U.S. ambassador to Britain rumor, was seen entering the house while movers carried out SJP's "shabby chic" furniture. While Wintour's camp denies that any decor changes were Anna's idea, it doesn't seem that unlikely that the ice queen would want every bit of design to be perfect for an event that she had her name on. There's no official word on the extent of the makeover, but one report suggests that movers were seen carrying Matthew Broderick out of the house and bringing Bradley Cooper in.

A small battalion of cleaners was spotted scrubbing door handles and windows outside the house. Yesterday, dozens of plump, white roses were delivered along with rental chairs, and a gardener planted mini- ferns out front.

Matthew Broderick wasn't there last night. He "claims" that he couldn't get away from broadway. People think there is another motive.

Comment of the day :lmao: in reference to snobby control freak Anna Wintour:

News like that is putting a damper on my plans to hold an owebuma fundraiser.

Anna Wintour is a British, power hungry uber-capitalist bitch on wheels. She runs Vogue magazine, and ultimately decides everything it does. She is running a fundraising drive for Obama with Sarah Jessica Parker, at 40 thousand bucks a plate at her home. For 10 thousand bucks a plate, you can have dinner at The Plaza hotel, and entertainment provided by Mariah Carey.
There are hoping to sell 50 40K dinners, and 250 10K dinners.
And the primitives went ballistic over Mitt Romney's 5K a plate dinner... but not a peep over this, go figure.. ::)
Damn! and Vogue is one of my favorite fashion magazines!
