U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami, announced Tuesday she would introduce next week a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives aimed at forcing states to repeal their ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws.
Her bill calls for the federal government to withhold transportation funding to states that have 'Stand Your Ground' laws.
“I have been disturbed by the murder of Trayvon Martin for many months,†Wilson stated in a release.
“The thought that George Zimmerman could get away with such a horrendous crime is a travesty of justice. I have been contemplating and working on this legislation since the incident that shocked the conscience of the nation -- the murder of Trayvon Martin.

Justified to kill: Why Detroit dominates the state's justifiable homicides
DETROIT, MI – In a city that just might be the nation’s justifiable homicide capital, Willie White was watching basketball when he heard the intruders return.
So, after he flipped off the television and grabbed his gun, the 75-year-old retiree took the last shot of the night.
White had worried they might come back. They'd broken a gate to his backyard the night before, and thrown rocks through two different windows. He'd called police, but an officer told him it could be days before someone showed up to take a report.
Like many Detroit residents frustrated by the city’s dwindling police resources, White prepared himself for the worst.
He watched the game on mute as his sick wife slept in a second-floor bedroom above him. When he heard his side door being forced open, he grabbed the rifle he'd loaded with a single bullet hours earlier.
Happy ending here. (http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2012/06/justified_to_kill_read_why_det.html)
Frederica Wilson wants to let one questionable example put and end to thousands of citizens protecting themselves. From the second article it seems that Detroit has more "justifiable homicides" than most cities have regular murders.

Why only one
bullet cartridge? Or is that all his piece would hold? I have a leetle .22 like that, and it wouldn't be my first choice in a defense situation...unless it was my only choice.
-
This'll go about as far as one of Ron Paul's bills--dies in committee, never to be heard from again.

It sounded like that was all he needed. He left the perp lying there until the cops came.

True, and I should have noted that.
Just sayin' one round might have just pissed him off, and why take that chance unless it's your only chance.

I didn't see where the article said anything about his gun other than it was a rifle. The guy is 78, so it might have been an old single shot rifle.

She's pandering to her Miami-based constituency. She knows ain't jack gonna happen this year, if ever. Just getting her name out there in the lights so everyone can shake their heads and mutter, "stupid bitch" under their breath.

Yeah, true...

Ok fine...then every state that stands up to this thuggery should turn every inch of road they have into a toll road.
The state of Florida could make a lot of money off of I-10, I-75 and I-95.

It is the press. It is probably a single-shot shotgun.

You might see where I mentioned that possibility and referenced one of mine.
I'm just commenting. Are you trying to start a fight? Seriously, I'm not in the mood.

At first I thought this was the brain dead who was on the House floor with her, "Go Gata" speech a while back, but that was Corrine Brown. Wilson is the brain dead who wears those God-awful hats.
So hard to keep my moonbats straight.
