Oy, all the crap that I carry in that vest!!!!

So my shooting vest needed to be washed... yup, it is a tad on the smelly side... yup, has been intensely used since I got it.

So I started digging crap out of it.

Notebooks... not one, several... DUH

Pens (and I could not find a one yesterday, now that was bad... but I just pulled about ten of them)

Extra camera body and batteries (the tough 610)

Ok I was wondering where I put my earphones... found them

Recorder

Food/ energy bars

Oh yes and batteries.

Since lenses live in camera bag unless going out, and the sleeve is right now in the other vest (hubby's)

Oh and yes, a cleaning cloth for the lens.

Oy, no wonder the damn thing is heavy.

My press badge usually lives in it, but hung it with the keys last night.

All the crap one carries is just plain out amazing...

 :whatever:

I think she misspelled "van" or maybe "truck".

I wonder if she wears a (smelly) fedora with a PRESS card stuck in the sweat stained hat band.

Your thread title reminded me of "Nanny's Messy Bed" from a Frasier episode.  I'm trying to imagine Nads as Nanny...and failing.

I can see Nad's underlying purpose here. She wants to reinforce that she's a real reporter and not a pretend one.

But real reporters have two things in common:
1) they are not surprised by the contents of real reporter vests
2) unlike Nads their vests don't smell of BO, sweat and urine.

Real reporters will WASH their vests. Its all part of that professional reporter thing.

But most of all, real reporters don't have to tell everyone that they are real reporters.

I'm curious as to where nadin finds her "reporter"'s vest to begin with.

Given her roly-polyness and her being altitudinally-challenged, it's probably not regularly stocked on the racks of clothing stores.

And while there's clothing stores that specialize in apparel for "big and tall men," I'm not aware of any women's equivalent for "short and robustly round."

She must have it tailor-made.

I dunno what drives nadin to even think she's getting Life magazine-quality photographs from her expensive "big rig."

I think nadin would simplify her life greatly by discarding all the junk she carries around, and simply the next time she goes to "cover" something, stopping first at the convenience store to buy three or four $5 disposable cameras.

She's got like $20 worth of random crap and a wally*world tape recorder in there and has to brag abut it ?

I'm still trying to work out the part about the spare "Camera Body" - but chances are fairly good she's talking about an Olympus 610 digital camera. Hardly a "camera body" and a long , long way from being professional hardware.

What an idiot.

You know, I've rarely heard people who take the best photographs talking about their "gear," and if they do, it's just to give some technical details, not to gloat that it's the biggest or most expensive or state-of-the-art.

nadin reminds me of people who have the latest sort of motor vehicle--or some special-purpose vehicle--and then think it makes them a good driver.

All skill emanates from the person, not the "gear."

I think nadin's full of shit when it comes to cameraology.

Vest?  :rotf: No need. Pros often use slingbags or packs.
Vests are passe for anyone other than a rank amateur trying to look or sound important.
I certainly hope the DUmpmonkeys don't fall for that crap. :banghead:

Olympus 610 is a small compact pocket camera.
14mp on a 1/2.3 sensor. (around 4mmx6mm as I recall) About $150.
Fair for someone just beginning to shot and learn digital. Nads, to a tee.

Nads, deary, I have some lens filters that cost twice what you paid for that. :lmao:

On the ridge line, you can see fire personnel sky lined. Those are TREES you bloody idiot!!

**pic of far  distant ridge line**

One of mine today...  it sucked, Nads
More laughs.

3. San Diego

Lakeside to be specific...

We had a very small, 12 acre burn, and the structure that was threatened was saved due to owner giving firefighters breeding space, aka a clear zone and plenty of retardant from the sky.
I'm sure the firefighters appreciated that very much. :lmao:

Did find a thread where Nads fessed up.  The good rig is a Nikon D300. 12mp crop-sensor.
Introduced, 2007.
Actually, a very capable camera along the lines of the Canon 50D.
I have a bad hunch she went el-cheapo on the glass, and the unit's potential will not be seen.

It might happen.  Lions have been known to eat stuff that has been dead for a good while.  Poor bastard would have a bad week long case of the trots though.

That photo had very poor composition, and nothing of interest, no focal point.

I am reminded of an episode of nadin's intellectual superiors...

The Three Stooges..."Three Little Beers" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIUeEpTLBvQ)

I kind of go through the pockets. I'm more of a dry cleaner...

The last person to get admitted reminds me of nadin.

So is the visual of nads in her vest remind me of a crazy cat lady, shuffling around, mumbling to herself except when she's screaming at mailboxes?

I'm still wondering why hubby hasn't kicked her to the curb.  Seriously.

Me too.

I find it very difficult to believe a man who once bore so much solemn responsibility would put up with a wife who makes him look stupid by association.

I'm not as sure as I used to be, but I'm still sort of sure Tom has no idea what nadin's up to.

Very distracting.

Not to worry. Nads hasn't a clue how to use it.
Mode dial remains locked in "A".  :rotf:

It was attended. At it’s height, 250-300 people. Given families of some of the acts ca,e as well, this was not just Occupy. They organized it, but it was not just Occupiers.

All I can say is that any article Nadin has "published" must include some heavy edits.

I dunno what drives nadin to even think she's getting Life magazine-quality photographs from her expensive "big rig."

Myself, I loathe and detest cameras, and buy one about oh, once every five years, just to take photographs of the cats, and some of my by-chance photographs of the cats look better, capturing something of their soul.  It's by accident, of course.

I think nadin would simplify her life greatly by discarding all the junk she carries around, and simply the next time she goes to "cover" something, stopping first at the convenience store to buy three or four $5 disposable cameras.

Reminds me that the best photos I have ever taken were with a waterproof throw a way.

Someone mentioned never hearing a Pro talk about their gear.  I did and it confused the heck out of me.

Some time early 1970's at a party the host a young Officer was telling me he was going up North to the red woods with his Cannon and shoot the trees.

Yah I know I have not really changed that much in all these years.

I blearted out " Why on earth would you want to do that"  ?

Poor guy, tells me he wants to go into photography some day.    Now I am really confused.

Hubby comes over to sit next to me and I whisper to him, this friend of yours is not right in the head.   Now there were 3 totally confused people, the Host, me and Hubby.

So Hubby wants to know why I would think such a thing-------So I tell him that this weekend his friend was going to blow up some Red Woods then take pictures of the damage.

Hubby casually asks the Host about his weekend plans and the Host says more or less what he had told me.  He left the room for a minute or so and came back with his new very expensive camera with a bag of different lenses one had to have weighed 5 pounds big sucker.

AH the ignorance of youth, and the folly of people trying to impress others with their hobby's and using terms outside the listeners knowledge.
