Michigan: Recall Effort Is Dropped
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/08/us/michigan-recall-effort-is-dropped.html?_r=2
A group seeking to recall Gov. Rick Snyder announced Thursday that it had ended the effort after Gov. Scott Walker’s victory in Wisconsin’s recall election. The group, Michigan Rising, said it would stop collecting signatures, noting that it was already short of its own goals. Instead, the group said it would focus on a long-term effort to form a progressive advocacy group and support current progressive legislators. “The results in Wisconsin crystallized how difficult a task it is to recall a sitting governor, even when the unions and the Democratic Party play a significant role in the effort,†a spokesman, Bruce Fealk, said.

1. A recall in Michigan would indeed be difficult...
almost as difficult as trying to recall a Republican in Texas...

3. If you thought the DNC stayed out of the WI recall...
you should have seen the cowardly Michigan Democratic Party run FAR away from the Snyder recall from the onset of the movement.
The EFM law itself seems like enough to challenge Snyder on however that might require some alarming, hard hitting ads about the removal of democracy and selling of the state to corporate bidders but Dems never seem to fight as hard as they should against Republicans who don't mind dragging people down into the mud with them.

4. Considering how well the WI recall turned out, it would appear Michigan Democratic Party made a
smart move.

6. Yeah running like cowards from the GOP is "smart".
They stayed out well before the WI recall. and the WI recall was plagued by a lack of funding and participation from national Democrats. WI was much closer than the media would ever admit and just backing down like cowards all the time (the DLC/New Democrat strategy for EVERYTHING) is why so many voters end up voting Republican. They don't back down which is incredible because they're wrong nearly 100% of the time. But it signals to undecided voters that there is one party that fights and stands for something and they tend to consider strength a top reason to vote for a candidate. They don't want wishy-washy spineless cowards.
We can stay in their grill and keep fighting like they did basically from 1994 on and create our own fighting presence that shows we STAND FOR SOMETHING (think "Fighting" Bob LaFollette isn't beloved because he lived up to his moniker?) or we can be cowards and run. Considering Washington Dems had their spines removed long ago (oh hey they're negotiating behind Obama's back to extend the Bush Tax Cuts again, yay!) or Michigan Dems refused to stand with the people trying to organize the recall against Rick Snyder and his attempts to eliminate democracy, I'd say we're going to end up losing a lot more battles just for lack of will and the absolute cowardice of party officials.

5. eh...Just re-route the energies to get someone new elected...
The billionaires have done their "shock and awe" on just how much cash they're happy to burn to keep their muppets in office two more years, so it's understandable that ordinary folks are demoralized...

These "our people always run away from a fight" posts are bullshit. The dems get nasty beyond what decency, and occassionally, the law will permit.
But the mere thought depresses them DUmbasses to no end.
They become sullen, morose and disaffected.
It's as cleansing as "the election was stolen" woofing they be and by "cleansing" I mean: not at all. There is no sober reassessment of policy and strategy.
And that leaves them eager to retry the same losing ideas.
And that leads to further frustration.
Which deepens the morbid fantasies.
Which keeps them mired in bad decisions.
Do you remember how much emotional energy they invested in Obama?
How long will it be until they can ever reclaim that?
They will be like this for the rest of our generation--at a minimum.

Bruce Fealk is a member of DU, if you're wondering.
He lives in Rochester Hills, a upper class surburb. He is the editor of the local rag as well as a blogger for the Oakland Press. He was instrumental in getting Ann Colter's column taken out of the paper, after which I dropped the paper.
His wife is a nurse at Crittenden Hospital.
He's been in jail several times including at least once for assault at a political rally.
Everytime he makes a comment in the local rag, I answer him with "Why do you belong to a website that advocated for the assassination of President George Bush?"

...the removal of democracy and selling of the state to corporate bidders...
All it was, was ordinary taxpayer citizens voting to keep fiscal sanity, and to continue what seems to be working quite well. It's just that simple, DUmbass.
