Title: Allied Telesyn AT 9812 T Layer 3 switch
Post by: EagleKeeper on May 30, 2012, 07:41:41 PM
I'm just posting this in case there are any geeks that might find this interesting.

My cousin gave this thing to me so that I might get my head back into the right frame of mind.

Awhile back I took a fall and busted my head open, took awhile to gather my thoughts and now I'm trying to get my feet wet again.

This thing is so crazy he figured I'd get lost in it and get technical again. Anyway, I have trouble referring to this thing as a switch, it's more like a router with a built in gigabit switch.

It's got 12 switch ports and 4 gbic slots.

Ok, this is most of the running config, it's mostly factory default but it will give you an idea of what this thing can do.

I'd not even heard of Allied Telesyn until the last day or two. The # symbol comments out the line so it's ignored, it's just a way to help a human to make sense of the config file.

It's a Layer 3 switch.  They encapsulate IP information in packets and use that to route them.  It's usually faster than a router.

C&P the results from show run.

I'm pretty rusty.  Its been a few years since I had my hands on one.

I thought I mentioned that it's layer 3, as I look back I see that I failed to mention that.

It doesn't understand the "show run" command.

"show run dynamic" is what shows the config that is running and what I posted is the output from that command.

BTW, it's running Alliedware version 2.9.1-17 25-Nov-2008

I haven't looked yet to see if it's current. I'm watching the Hatfields and McCoys and that is taking up most of my available cycles,
