Semi-literate nadin spins another tale, the point of which is.....

Ah there are times that writing is fun
So working on some fiction, and one of the societies I have them meet, the heroes that is, has everything, and I mean EVERYTHING privatized.
So I managed to shock one of the characters, but think about it, since this is your pull yourself by bootstraps, be responsible crap.
"What if you need an ambulance but there is no record of you having paid insurance?"
"You die."
Well, we are not that far from that for some folks in our country. They are still a very loud, and scarily well organized minority, but this is the kind of world they'd love. A place where road work, military operations, even rescue, are privatized to the point that you do not have the funds, you die. It is a cold place, but hey... sadly not that much of an exaggeration.
I went so far as to bring sixteen century private armies back, the Condotieri. We meet in the field, compare Tables of Organization, and decide who would win without firing a shot... I mean high intensity warfare, somebody might lose equipment (lives who cares), and that gets expensive. This is why Blackwater is in the business, we are not fighting high intensity wars.
But exploring the concept of a full libertarian paradise with a weak central government can be fun... as fiction

I think I have broken the "Nadin Code"...read what she writes from right to left and from the bottom up....it makes more sense that way.

Why is it in every futuristic tale of horror the government has granted itself powers over the individual until the individual gets fed up and fights back?
Why is it you never see a futuristic tale of horror with a limited government and individuals in control of their own lives?
The reason is, the second scenario is not horrifying, the first one is very much so. Unless you are a DUmmy then the prospect of having freedom and having to work for things is more terrifying than any Stephen King story.

We tried running it through the VRWC translator but it kept tripping breakers and smoking. We thought we got it running again but when we tried running her post through again it was the first time I ever saw a computer cry.

Triumph-of-the-individual stories are satisfying to the human soul. Triumph-of-the-government stories don't sell books and theater tickets, Nadin.

I disagree. I think corporations could come together to make it happen and then recoup costs and profit by charging use fees for the water.

If the free market fails to produce something like the Hoover Dam, then it wasn't meant to be and the projects costs were more than the benefits.
