Title: Obama congratulates himself during Memorial Day speech

"For the first time in nine years, Americans are not fighting, dying in Iraq."

President Obama gave a Memorial Day speech today at Arlington cemetery. Even on Memorial Day, a day to reflect upon and honor those men and women who made the greatest sacrifice to fight for and defend others, he chose to campaign.

It’s so convenient how he didn’t “inherit” some things from President Bush. The narcissist and campaigner in chief couldn’t put aside his own hubris even on Memorial Day. It would be unbelievable, if it wasn’t par for the course with him.

Mankind has always struggled with the definition of honor. It can be found along many different paths. The soldier under fire finds a fusion of courage, love, and duty that the rest of us can only imagine, as calm waters reflect flashes of lighting from a distant storm. It is our great civilian honor that America’s armed forces reflect upon us. Each new cohort of young people in uniform, setting aside a measure of their freedom to accept military discipline, makes a perilous investment in American liberty. It is our honorable duty to return their investment with interest.

We pause now to remember those who gave everything, and live now in loving memory, marching only through the pages of history they have written. So many empty seats will surround picnic tables across the land on Memorial Day. So many outposts in the deadly corners of the Earth will be patrolled by the spirits of the fallen, walking beneath a flag whose stars and stripes glimmer and burn with a spirit that will never fade.

Yeah he definitely should have read this instead.

He wasn't going to do appearances today, but bowed under the pressure. His speech at Arlington was only about five or six minutes. The one he gave at the Vietnam Memorial was a little longer.

I thought I was going to have a heart attack watching him at the wall. He actually put his hand on his heart when the national anthem was playing. I was like WHAO! is that for real!?!?!?

Must have been the spicy dog.

It had to be something. That is the first time I seen him with his hand on his heart during the national anthem.

I really enjoyed watching Bush when the national anthem was playing. He would at times put his hand on his heart, bow his head and say prayer during the playing.

Wasn't the timeline for the withdrawal of troops set up by President Bush?  Is Obama once again just a follower taking credit for leading?

There are a lot of things that Bush started and Obama is taking credit for. Of course it is all good stuff. All the bad stuff, he is still blaming Bush for.

Another Obama victory lap, paid for with the blood and sacrifice of his betters.

Funny how even Comrade Willhelm von der Schlickmeister and that witless wonder, James Earle Carter, understood that the president properly takes responsibility for military FAILURES, and gives the credit for successes to the MEN AND WOMEN IN UNIFORM who were actually there at the pointy end of the spear.

If there was ever any doubt that Teh ReichsMessiah isn't even worthy to lick Carter's boots, this should settle it.

Obama congratulates himself during Memorial Day speech ....well, since the general public and the MSM wouldn't do it, it fell to the TOTUS to do it.

Leading from behind is more of an art than a science.
