My youngest (7, in 2nd grade) came in 2nd place out of all the 2nd grade classes today on a subtraction facts thingy. There are six classes with about 24-27 kids in each class. Over the past few weeks, they've been doing timed tests, taking the top scores, with the t ime decreasing each week. Today they took the top 8 and did a "live" test with flashcards in front of the whole 2nd grade. He came in 2nd...won a couple books and board games. I'm so proud of him! Especially since I've never drilled him on anyy math facts (bad mom, I know).
Oh, and his baseball team is still undefeated, and in his game last night he came about 5 feet from hitting a home run! Not bad for a little squirt!!

It's good. Good to hear this things.

Give that boy extra playstation time, I think he deserves it! :cheersmate:
Contrast that with the meltdown from my 3rd grader .... *cue dramatic music*.... FRACTIONS FROM HELL! :thatsright: I love numbers, what is her problem? :lmao:

she sounds like my daughter...such a drama queen about math! Me....I love algebra....she'd be happy never to see another math problem in her life.

Bahahaha, Schade. I said the same thing of my 4th grader and word problems. :thatsright: How do I get one so concrete thinking that his wires get all crossed and the other freaks out over a basic word problem and a handful of fractions? :thatsright: :lmao:
I'm a dork...I didn't even tell Flame how great her kid is(and he is) for doing so well. Good job, Flame. all of your children seem to really be doing so well and that's a testament not only to their fine disposition and smarts, but to your and your spouse's parenting. :-* :-*
