Fox News and a school student ruins teacher's life

The North Carolina high school student who was berated by his teacher after he spoke critically of President Obama told Fox News on Monday that he wanted to "laugh" when he heard the teacher suggest he could be arrested for criticizing a sitting president.

1. Teacher ruined her own life

If you're opening up a political discussion, then don't be surprised by what comes your way. Instead of trying to stifle a student's freedom of speech, respond with facts instead. I heard an audio of this teacher in action, and she was yelling and screaming at the student, never the brightest thing for a teacher to do.

This explains why DU is closed political discussion.

Case in point:

2. Illustration

It's an illustration of how hateful politics is in our country in general. A thread on this subject was hidden earlier.

3. It's all the fault of Fox News and the student

The teacher's demeanor had NOTHING to do with it.

Bonus nadinism:

6. I see that as he goated the teacher to yell at him.

Why else would it be recorded? I remember a long time ago, a teacher was in a middle of a student induced recorded controversy. Forgot what his name is, but he did tell his side on the Today show.

8. The kid set the teacher up, why else was he filming the ceiling?

The teacher had a bad argument, but so did the kid. Comparing Obama's incident to Rmoney's shows a complete lack of perspective. The kid's mom took his crap to Fox, being the sort of mother that she is and of course, Fox went with it.

I agree with the mother that the teacher didn't seem to be very knowledgeable.

19. Here is a question that needs pondering

Would the teacher get the same reprimand and suspension if she wasn't being recorded? I find the justification and convenience of recording highly suspicious. I still say she was set up.

22. Overhyped, unsubstantive stories like this draw people to the right, sadly.

I bet many of the parents who watch this story then choose not to send their children to public schools never gave the Obama/Romney bullying claims any afterthought. Although the teacher was right to point out there was no comparison between a young Obama simply shoving another student and Romney forcibly cutting another student's hair, the teacher went overboard and made a fool out of herself in front of the entire nation. Chances are that some of her students probably have are getting their young brains sucked into the alternative reality warp of fox news/drudge/blaze/free republic.

Probably been discussed elsewhere already, but replace Bush's name with Obama's, and this student would have been a DUmp hero.

idiot teacher did this. And the local paper recorded it. **** teachers who tell students that they can be arrested for criticizing the President. And what's with the idiot shit about how it's ok to criticize Romney but not Obama?

If this was a teacher who said that you could criticize John Kerry for his throwing away his medals and his anti-war activity but not President Bush for skirting serving in Vietnam, you'd be having a fit.

For sure. They would be hailing him as King.

The haircutting incident is ALLEGED. The owebuma bullying incident is uncontested factual public record.

This is true. The family is still pretty upset over the media for using them as a pawn also.

That not for you, or anyone who holds the same lib ideology that you do, to decide.  You aren't mentally stable enough to decide what is and isn't a fair comparison on anything.

With one huge caveat; Kerry really tossed his medals and there's no documented evidence that Bush dodged going to Vietnam.  A more accurate statement would be:

"If this was a teacher who said that you could criticize John Kerry for his throwing away his medals and his anti-war activity but not President Bush for the military assigning him to state-side duty during Vietnam, you'd be having a fit."

But the truth, of course, would kill your point which you had to invent up a lie to make.

In ebonics, you rarely use the word "was".

"Be" serves all purposes.

Who would be the better social studies teacher, that affirmative-action moron in North Carolina, or Pam Dawson?

I wouldn't allow Pam to housebreak my dog, much less "educate" a child.

That all depends on which one the children would rather have as a slave master.

Um, the teacher is supposed to be a professional and conduct themselves professionally ALL THE TIME.  Even if that boy was up in her face she would be expected to act as the adult and professionally.

I am so glad she got her ass handed to her.  The arrogance of her is gross.  Her talking to her students that way is disgusting.

True, but this was the simple past tense, so it would look like this:

we been
you been
they been

I had heard that Kerry tossed some one else's medals over the fence.
