I'll hand it to USA Today for printing the article, but the title of it is the first half of the thread title (the rest is from Drudge).
Gridlock eases in many metro areas
By Larry Copeland, USA TODAY
Traffic congestion dropped 30% last year from 2010 in the USA's 100 largest metropolitan areas, driven largely by higher gas prices and a spotty economic recovery, according to a new study by a Washington-state firm that tracks traffic flows.
That was the largest drop since the nation plunged into recession in December 2007.
Of the 100 most populous metro areas, 70 saw declines in traffic congestion while just 30 had increases, says Jim Bak, co-author of the 2011 U.S. Traffic Scorecard for Kirkland, Wash.-based INRIX.
That was a reversal of what happened in 2010, when 70 had increases in congestion and 30 had declines. Tampa had the biggest increase in congestion, and Minneapolis the biggest drop.
"We're experiencing a stop-and-go economy right now," Bak says. "The data indicate the country may be experiencing the jobless recovery economists warned of during the recession."

Well, fewer people on the roads mean fewer people spending money . . .

Well, fewer people on the roads mean fewer people spending money . . .
And fewer people having jobs means fewer people that need to drive to and from those jobs

So, owebuma solved gridlock.

Wonder how long it'll take ProSense to add that to her stupid list of "Accomplishments" she trots out a dozen times a day over in Dummieland?

So, owebuma solved gridlock.
We don't necessarily need that kind of solution.
We need people fighting traffic getting to work, watching their cars overheat, creeping along in stop-and-go-traffic. We need taxpayers and we need people who are telling the unions to get ****ed -- they'd rather keep their union dues and spend it on the kids at the park.
We need gas stations with lines and we need parking lots at working establishments that are full to capacity.
We need people who have hope that there will be a better tomorrow, rather than giving up and stopping the job search after a year or more of pounding the pavement.
We need people who are paying their mortgage every month, and their light bill, and put something in the collection plate at church (church parking lot is ALSO full, btw).
In short, we need to get rid of Barry post-haste. And take that ****ing wookie with you when you go, Barry.
