All I can say is that we all LOVED the movie. I give it 5 stars.

I saw it this past wednesday, I really liked it too. I had some heartburn with the Loki character though. They pronounced his name Low key. He was the total opposite.
-
I want to see Avengers, and Dark Shadows. I am a huge Johnny Depp and Tim Burton fan.
-
Seems like the summer movies are either gonna be 1--huge blockbusters (Avengers, MIB3), or 2--total shit (John Carter, Battleship.)
Oh, joy. Like I needed more reason to stay away from the theaters.

The main reason I stay away from the theaters is because of how much they charge for their snacks. Hell, it cost me $4.50 for a 20 once bottle of water. I could get a case for that much. My wife and went here last month to see the Three Stooges. We got one thing of popcorn, two bottled waters, and little box of milk dudes; and it cost $20.00! We only paid $10.00 for tickets. The guy at the counter asked if there is anything else we needed, I said yeah, a small loan to pay for this crap.

gaydar. It's faint but it's definitely
out there."

Snugs--he's also buying Milk DUDES for $20. That alone should have caused the Gaydar to go off the charts.

No, I'm not a spelling NAZI, but I do think there was more than a bit of a Freudian Slip in there.
Just sayin.

Stupid autocorrect on this Mac. I am shutting it off. Either way, you know what I meant.

Am pretty sure we're going to see it this next weekend! Can't wait! :yahoo:

Back on topic! I am anxious to see the movie as well. It does look really good.

Hummm, thought it got good ratings?

I could not be LESS interested in The Avengers.
Unless it's the 1960's Brit TV drama starring Diana Rigg.
Sorry, but after awhile, you lose plot, character development, writing, acting, and continuity with all those frickin' special effects.
JUST. AIN'T. INTERESTED.

I liked their theme soundtrack. They made a full length feature movie out of it too, a couple of years ago.

Best line of all time: "Puny god". :-)

That scene was EPIC! :lmao:
-
I saw it on Saturday and it was great! Character development and non-stop action, what could be better?
-
It was Ok . Not spectacular at all, The Character development was almost non existent . Bringing all those Super hero characters together I can see the problem of creating a back story for each character and keeping the movie in one part and under a couple of hours.
-
So who's your favorite Avenger?
Tony Stark, by far.
But I really liked all the characters. It was just a fun movie all the way around.

Agreed. :cheers1:
-
One of my favorite parts of the movie was when Thor and his brother Loki were referred to as a gods by the Black Widow. Captain America said, “There is only one God ma’am and He doesn’t dress like that that."

That was a good line.
I liked the waitress at the end who said Captain America saved her life and he should be thanked for that after all the pundits and politicians were looking to blame the Avengers for the damage.

Agreed! Captain America comes in a VERY close second.

Avengers has it the $1 billion profit mark in it's second weekend.
[snip]
The Avengers 1 Billion
Hulk keeps smashing box office records.
According to estimates from Disney, "Marvel's The Avengers" earned $103.2 million at the domestic box office over Mother's Day weekend, plus an additional $95.4 million from international territories. After just 19 days of release, "The Avengers" has totaled $1 billion in global grosses, tying "Avatar" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" as the fastest films to reach that lofty sum.

That's what the preceding movies (the Iron Man franchise, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor) were meant to do: establish the characters. That's kind of like complaining the 2nd and 3rd movies of the Lord of the Rings trilogy didn't establish how the Fellowship started its quest.

Fixed. Can't wait until it hits theatres!! :hyper:
Haven't seen Avengers yet. Too broke. Hoping it comes out to rent soon if it still isn't on the big screen. :(

Ah yes If it was a part of a trilogy but it wasn't. Also even the LOR trilogy had references to previous editions of the current Saga. That's what makes a trilogy.

Well, this is a 7-part trilogy.
-
I didn't see any of the Hulk movies, which one of my friends said they aren't necessary, but Captain America was pretty awesome. I'd like to see Thor again after seeing The Avengers because I don't remember it that well. And the two Iron Man movies are really great and yes, I pronounce it I-ron 'cause I like to and it annoys people.
But the Avengers seemed just like going from the Iron Man/Captain America movies to this new movie. I think it is what fanfic crossovers are trying to achieve even though I never read them because they're fanfic and they are crossovers.
-
Well, I just got back from seeing the movie in 3D. The movie was great, but there was nothing to justify the 3D treatment. You will notice no difference in a good 2D viewing.
That said, I just LOVED the movie! It was everything I wanted. I will definitely be owning this in DVD.
Gang, If you have not seen this yet, see it on the big screen. You will love it.

You'd find something to complain about on a cloudless day, wouldn't you?

Who was complaining ? Other than you of course.

The sun is too bright on those days, it gets right in your eye. Why can't the weather guy give us a thin cirrus overcast on days like that ?
-
If you do go see it, make sure you stay for the extra scene at the end of the credits. It made me hungry. :-)
-
Saw it yesterday in 3D with my LOML -- freaking GREAT!! Can't wait until the next installment!! :yahoo:
-
Oh, we have a thread here in the Lounge. Loved it! and I'm not really a fan of comic books, but I've always loved the Hulk, Robert Downey Jr. was awesome, I loved him more then the Hulk. For some reason we didn't think many people would be at the movies on Sun. we just assumed everyone was away, the place was packed so we didn't have the best seats, and I was a little nervous with the movie being 2 1/2 hours, I wasn't sure if it would drag by or not, but it went by really fast. I liked Thor also, he was adorable.
BTW, the movie theater has a Unisex Bathroom, that kind of freaks me out when I see it.

There's a coincidence--so did I, also with She Who Will Always Be on a Pedestal!
Guess I should have posted here, not in the old DUmpster thread as I did:

Also hit me--fact is, every comic book geek knows a Cosmic Cube when he sees it, even though they kept calling it "The Tessract," and that it's really one of several cosmic cubes; that cosmic cubes grant pretty much GOD-like power, in caps. And the Chitauri wanted the "tesseract."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_Cube
"The Cube was eventually found (apparently having reformed) by the Eternal Thanos[6] who, like the Red Skull, wishes to control the universe (this also attracts the amorous attention of the entity Death). Although opposed by superhero team the Avengers and the alien Kree warrior Captain Mar-Vell, Thanos becomes supreme when he wills the Cube to make him a part of—and therefore in control of—everything. Thanos discards the Cube, believing it to be drained of power, and is then stripped of the power by a dying Mar-Vell, who shatters the Cube and restores the universe."
That's just an early interaction of Thanos with a Cosmic Cube. Thing is, if Thanos was after the thing, knowing what it really is while no one else (certainly no one on earth) does, why would he make it harder for him to get it--he'd have to know that it'd be better guarded after this, and now it's in Asgard. HE could have appeared on the helicarrier and taken it easily. Hmmmmm....points to some reason for wanting it in Asgard...which is something Thanos could have predicted, ultra-chessmaster that he is....bring on Ragnarok? A very Thanos thing to do, but would he need the Cube for that? Guess he could destroy Ygradsyll or something...
Well, we'll find out, won't we?

Loved Thor getting clocked on the side of the head by the Hulk! :hammer:

That was a scream--"Don't think that because we're fighting together NOW that I forgot about that hammer in the face action." :rotf:

Also loved it when Stark says that he's a Life Model Decoy--which, in fact, SHIELD used at times, for real (well, for fake...err, I mean they were real fakes) in the comics.
