When some people find something but others do not
Yes, this is a follow-on to my recently started thread in this forum. I thank-you for your indulgence.
Obviously, some folks find some things offensive and others do not share that sensitivity. That's not an accusation of hyper-sensitivity or insensitivity, just an observation. However, are those who do not share that same sensitivity obliged by polite society to honor the requests of those who do are offended?
Now, the interests of free and open dialogue suggest we shiould just move on; and I'm actually sympathetic to free and open dialogue. Conversely, those who are not offended by X may well be offended by Y. If they do not honor the senstitives of those offended by the former do they have any right to complain about the latter?
How do we discern, "this but not that"?

9. "We shouldn't purposely offend others, but we don't want to be the word police, either."
I think that encapsulates the discussion very succinctly. Thank-you.
Now we just need a practical solution. Maybe instead of an alert we can nominate someone for a "Jackie," the back-end of the Democrat party mascot. So and so says something insensitive and a reader clicks "Nominate." If 2/3 of the jury agrees the tail end of a donkey appears in their post.

Proposal: The Jackie
Maybe instead of an alert we can nominate someone for a "Jackie," the back-end/wrong-end of the Democrat party mascot. So and so says something insensitive or contrary to the norms of polite dialogue and a reader clicks "Nominate." If 2/3 of the jury agrees the tail end of a donkey appears in their post.
Silly and juvenile? Absolutely; but so are some posts that don't quite rise to the level of a TOS alert.

This is a clear, utter, blatant ripoff of "The Willie", an award given here for the past several years as part of the Top DUmmy competition.
No DUmpmonkey has ever had an original idea.
When I saw the "Jackie," I wondered why the primitives wanted to smear the wife of a slain president.Primatives smear crap where ever they go.
I thought this was about Nurse Jackie.I thought that was Andy Levy, Red Eye's ombudsmen.

Isn't the Nuclear Unicorn the Prim-lass who had a "Rethuglican" boyfriend whom she abused an alienated? If so, I would nominate her for a "Jackie."I believe you're thinking of Sarah Imaboobi, the DUmp's worst piece.

also guarding open discourse?
