So I just checked out the "Mens Group" for the first time....
Are you ****ing kidding me?
Whhhaaaaaa!!!! Whhhaaaaaa!!!! Whhhaaaaaa!!!!
Love the domestic violence thread--- where we're told that the lies are over--- women hit too.... oh my--
Love this line in the OP: "The genie is out of the bottle. The gig is up!. Years ago, feminist never thought that women would begin to act JUST LIKE MEN!"
Here's another post title in that thread: "Women, more than men, know the right buttons to push to incite violence
And another: "hardly a surprise really - honest discussion isn't tolerated when it comes to men"
Allow me to throw in a few more Whhhaaaaaa---Whhhaaaa's.....
Oh--- and my favorite--- "radfem Dworkinites" as noted in one post.---yeah I had to look that up.
Look---if some men need a forum to discuss their latest Colonoscopy, then fine---have at it..... but please know this---- I'm personally going to make fun of you when you moan and groan about how persecuted us poor poor men are.

1. I'd post a reply
But somebody would just alert on it, and we all know that alerting is a crap shoot ... do it lots and lots and you gotta roll 4 out of 6 eventually!

31. A crap shoot?
shit I'd say after a quick look at your quite impressive transparency page that an alert on you is much closer to a sure thing.
As a matter of fact I'd quite possibly take out a second mortgage to put some money on it.

40. Awww, a new fan
That transparency page is nuttin', these days.
You think 0.78% of one's posts hidden is a sure thing?
Listen, I got this tip today, horse running in the 4th ...
What's the sure thing is that if you alert on every single one of somebody's posts, no matter what insane babble you put in the alert, sooner or later you are going to hit a critical mass of people who are formal members of your posse, or just loose cannon iverglas-haters. (Hey alerters! hey jurors! who did I just call insane?? Nobody!)
I got a post hidden last night for allegedly accusing the person who started the thread of hijacking it. I sent that person the results. That person is very under the weather today, and the sudden attack of a combo of coughing and guffawing just about did them in.
Yesterday, I got a post hidden in a thread that was all about how somebody had followed me around for hours, into a second day, accusing me of being a man; the thread was full of people calling for that poster to be PPRed and saying what a bigot she was, with meanwhile a third party turning half the thread into a brawl over his own bigotry. And in the midst of that, for replying to somebody who wondered why the poster who it had taken 8 alerts to get a jury to stop hadn't been PPRed, I got a post hidden for a personal attack.
I think it is all very, very hilarious, and I'm always glad when I can lighten someone else's day!
So just for good measure, here are two jurors' comments on a post hidden in the thread of mine that's bumbling around in this forum at the moment.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: I think this poster is out of control, and could use a time out. My trouble is that I find the behavior of her detractors as blameworthy as the poster herself. That said, I'm ready to put an end to the incessant whining and drama that has infected DU3. Therefore, HIDE IT!
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: Here's a juror who has a clue, just as poster asked, and will hide the post just as the poster asked. "Be careful what you ask for, you might get it", as the saying goes.
Now, based on that, can you tell us what the ground alleged in the alert was? (Hint: I didn't actually ask for my post to be hidden; J#6 just made that up.)
Kinda like Jeopardy, isn't it?

"If you keep insulting someone who is mad, you're going to get hit most of the time unless that person is zen guy."
"The other half needs to be taught to watch how far they push the situation."
That is all.

9. I don't agree with pretty much anything you write, does that mean you shouldn't have the right to say it?

11. Sorry for your Brother...
but that's not the point of my thread.
I'm fine with a Mens Group and I'm fine with complaints about Alimony---etc....
I'm not fine with a bunch of dudes bashing feminists, and women in general with the guise that all things are equal. I call horseshit on that.

19. I call horseshit on everything you just said. Read your OP again.

If this group isn't a Safe Haven, as per some are currently claiming in H/M, I say it should be.
What do we need to do to establish that we have as much right to establish respectful parameters for our discussion, protect our members (Cue Sterling Archer: "Phrasing!") and generally be able to keep out deliberate disruptors as any other safe haven group on DU.
I'm happy to help out Jeff with the hosting if we need a 2nd or 3rd. I'd also nominate stevenleser or hifiguy, although I don't know if he posts here regularly. No one else should take their name's lack of inclusion there as a snub, just thinking off the top of my head.

1. You're reading that thread too, huh?
I discovered this group a few months back.
It very quickly became clear to me that it's not a safe haven.
It's monitored.
I don't post here.

2. I agree with you.
There are issues which pertain to men which should be allowed to be discussed without derision. I remember when the group was proposed and the "outcry" on what this group would become. It shouldn't be allowed as a "he-man woman haters club," but given a number of topics, I don't think it has really become such a thing.

10. After seeing that thread in H+M...
I am convinced that it in fact SHOULD BE.
Sorry to anyone that this upsets, I want to discuss issues of all types relevant to me in both a broad general sense and in the many perspectives that are personally relevant to me. It is why I come to DU.
I can do this with minimal interference with every perspective except one: gender. Proceeding from anything but the dogmatism of second-wave (or whatever "wave" it happens to be) feminist perspective is just an invitation for a pile-on. And I believe firmly that there is more in heaven and earth that what is in that philosophy. Bear in mind that I have no issue with any feminist individual on this board, and it is not meant as a slight to those who do embrace that philosophy, my only suggestion is that it is not the only thing or the only way, and we need a place to explore these and other things that directly or indirectly impact, negatively or positively, men's lives.
Men need a place to discuss their issues with freedom from negative interloping from people who disagree that men have any relevant issues, that they need to address them or work through them, or that they should go somewhere else to do it. I know that most of the feminists who have lurked and participated in this group have done so largely productively, understanding that this is "our" place. I thank them profusely for this understanding.
However, given the thread in H+M which just broad-stroked the entire group for the implication that men don't have real issues, that what issues they have are laughable and small and whinging, and that we deserve to be laughed at, I fully suspect that safe haven status is required for this group to be valuable for the purposes it's intended. Regardless of the nonsense in that thread, it is clear that some latitude be extended for the ability to discuss the issue. Several posts in that thread were thought provoking, even if the signal to noise ratio of the thread was quite low.
Kind of pertaining to your thread frank:
You know, Bobby Flanders, the truemud primitive, doesn't look like any man I'd want hanging around a men's forum.
There's something creepy about him.

He's the guy who complained about bullies YET he himself can be considered a bully by the threads I've seen him start or posts in.

You know, 1 thing I've noticed here compared to DU? even when we disagree with each other in the other forums here? we do so respectfully, we don't jump on each other or call each other names.

You Jersey Shore cast-member wannabe! :lmao:
Can't get my hair big enough and the spray tan keeps washing off, damnit! :lmao:

:lmao: is that show an embarrassment or what? the sad part? the central part of the State, where the Shore begins? there are actually people like that, although I did have the big hair and the spray tan in the 80's LOL. Oh, and I think only 1 or 2 cast-members are actually from NJ, the rest are from out of State, yet we get stuck with their reps.

It's filmed in Seaside Heights, right? Yup, I can see them fitting right in there :-) And, yes, most of them are New Yorkers.
Bally, which forums are you speaking of? If we disagree, and it's a strong enough disagreement, we beat the shit out of each other here. We are pretty much between the eyes honest on this forum, as most Conservatives are, and we are not afraid to call each other on their opinions when it is necessary.
There is, however, a mile's worth of difference in CC and DU: We generally shake hands when it is over.
Yep, Seaside Heights, and I think the clubs they go to at night are in Point Pleasant?
Forums here like Election 2012, Politics, General Discussion etc.
I guess I need to get out of The DUmpster more :lmao: because I don't see people here beating the crap out of each other, but I'm pretty thick skinned, so if there are arguments I don't take them personally at all.
Lemme know when we have some stupid shit like MIRT, idiotic jury systems, or have to star walking on egg shells trying to prevent saying something someone "may" be offended by. **** all that noise. People here say what's on their mind. I like it that way. From the looks of it, everyone else seems to like it as well.
