39% of Union Households in Wisconsin Support WALKER???

According to the PPP poll (May 11-13). This is beyond pathetic. 2 out of 5 union members are willing to kill their own living because of their love of guns, gay marriage, and abortion???

These braindead idiots deserve everything that Walker and the Republicans are doing to them.

(http://www.democraticunderground.com/emoticons/wtf.gif) is wrong with this country?

11. When I was running for State Senate here in the western side of Cuyahoga County Ohio

(Cleveland), I would go out and talk to the rank and file Union members.

I would walk around the tables, talk to the people, shake hands, crack jokes, political stuff.

At almost every table, in every Union Hall, I would be asked about gun control. These hunters were convinced that democrats sole purpose in life was to take everyone's guns away. I would tell people all the time that the second amendment is the rule of the land and that I wasn't against people owning guns and yet, they would shake their heads in disbelief.

I knew that going in, I was going to lose upward of 40% of the Union Vote.

So yep, there you have it...

damned gun nuts, taking democrats at their word.

"how am I going to afford my guns if I don't have a job?"

How are you going to have a job if the union prices you out of the market?

5. There are 2 branches in the Labor family tree.

the "I got mine" branch.
and the "all of us are in this together" branch.

I'm not an expert, but I think the differentiation between the two trends in Labor as a movement began with issues surrounding a guy named Henry Wallace.

Now, only 7% of our workforce being unionized definitely contributes to whether and how much workers, unionized or not, support any power moves from whatever quarter.

This is SERIOUS -- As Big Ed said, if Walker is successful, this will be the template for all other States to follow.

I'm horrified.

Me too, only by "horrified" I mean...

Yet we almost lost it because 4 of you f'n retards opined that the 2nd Amendment didn't mean people had the right to keep and bear arms. Maybe that, and from reading you jackasses responses on DU daily, is why we KNOW you idiots are anti-2nd amendment.   :bird:

And it would appear you're in the "I got mine" branch. Had Scott Walker NOT employed his tactics, teachers would have been laid off. But hey, at least some would have been able to say, "I got mine". Idiot.

Well, the demokrat politicians in New York want to take guns away.  Even Gillibrand, who used to sleep with a gun under her bed (and was the darling of the hunting set for doing so), marches in lockstep with Schumer, a virulently anti-gun asshole.

10. I know someone like that here in Ohio

Though she's a member of the UAW, she supported John Kasich's SB5 that ended public worker's bargaining rights. She's a Fox News and AM radio fan, and we had a terrible argument in a bar before the election. Her excuse was "I'm different because I'm in a private union", and "We have to reel the public unions in".

Needless to say, I don't talk to her anymore and felt a slight rise when I saw she got a DUI a couple weeks ago. I hope the cop was a dues paying union member.

 ::)  Fun thread.

The other woman voted for Walker the first time around. Not sure how she is voting now. 3 of the men are almost certainly going to vote for Walker. 2 of them told me Obama got OBL because of Bush.   :thatsright:

Only myself and one of the guys are anti-Walker.

I mentioned this in another thread. If "liberals" backpedal any harder on this issue, they'll reverse the earth's rotation.

Who argues that the wording of the second amendment makes it inapplicable to today's society?
Who tries to use every shooting as evidence that we need stricter gun control?
Who makes fun of southerners with gun racks in their trucks?

It sure isn't conservatives.

I know a couple RW union members.

One is a family member. He even held some kind of position in his union but he always votes GOP.

My Cousin is employed by the City of NY, he had no choice but to join the Union, he's a staunch Republican.

Are union dues tax deductible as a business expense?  The unions are funneling that money to Obama anyway... might as well try to get some of it back.

Deductable.

You can at your discretion, tell them you do not want any money taken, to be donated to their favorite political party.
That amount can not be deducted from your paycheck.
You then become a member "not in good standing".
The percentage of dues not affected are still taken because you still enjoy all "the rights and benefits afforded by union membership", which you no long recieve because you're "not in good standing".
22 comes to mind.

Can we maybe call a spade a spade?

The Unions don't do what they do because they care about the workers, when Unions 1st started I would say it was out of caring, but these days? Unions do what they do to enrich themselves, they don't give a crap about the worker, they care about what the worker can give them to fatten their wallets and political influences, that's it!

Before ACT 10 this was true. I know people on local school boards that had to negotiate contracts with the teachers union and the ones with seniority had no problem sacrificing newer teachers to keep their pay raises and benefits.

After ACT 10, in the communities that can use it their school boards now have the ability to change the health insurance carrier to cheaper alternatives and to award raises based on merit rather than how long they have been employed all without having to fire any teachers or raise taxes.

I do not know who that is.....

The Die alte Sau, the Proud2BLibKansan primitive.

She's long ago put in her thirty years required for retiring on a good pension with the Kansas City, Missouri, schools; she doesn't have to teach any more, and can enjoy her waning years in security and comfort.

Kansas City a couple of years ago closed down about half their schools--yes, about half of them--and a lot of teachers got laid off.

The Die alte Sau, who could've retired, pulled rank and kept her job, meaning that there's a new teacher somewhere in Kansas City now working in a minimum-wage convenience store job.

Just so the Die alte Sau could avoid those $10 "co-pays" on her health insurance, that she'd have to pay if she were retired.

That's some real social-consciousness there, on the part of the Die alte Sau; no consideration at all for others, the miserable wretched old bitch.

The president of the Fond du Lac, WI school board might be interviewed by the Weekly Standard for an article on Scott Walker. I told him to see if he can work in the word "dummies" into it as a sort of shout out to us and a dig at the DUmp.

This is what I don't get.  The union here only lets you unjoin once a year and it has to be in their presence at the union hall.  They make it so difficult that it's really intimidating.

**** a bunch of unions!

They haven't been anything for years but teach workers how to be unproductive in order to make personal empowerment into an even keel with every other loser on the assembly line.

Unions will slow you down, have you do inferior work, and be a lazy POS in order that you don't outshine the guy standin' next to ya! Never mind the fact the guy doesn't give a shit about anything except where his next beer is comin' from!

**** a bunch of unions!
