There are sound tactical reasons to not be too much in a rush with it, also I believe Issa or one of the other prime movers had stated they would consider it after a certain date (This month, IIRC) to comply before they would proceed with it.

Yes, the Republicans are playing politics with it as well.  Better politically for the GOP (and Romney) to drag it to the forefront in September rather than May, because if they did it now, it would be old news before most people started paying attention to the election.

There is that, then there's also the very real deal of building consensus, even among Dems. When the pressure's turned up, the dam cracks just a little. The cracking and leaking continue until there's a flood.

At that point, we're in late October and the Fat Lady is not just warmed up, she's knocking walls down!
