Nasty...Nasty.
I wish that jurors wouldn't use their duty to call out and make nasty comments towards other members.
It's cowardly and really nasty.
Well, yeah. It is DU after all.

16. No
When I beat up an alerter, I call them "the alerter".
I think I was on the jury in question, though.
Do you mean this one:
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I'm voting to leave it alone because zappaman called seabeyond "sweetie." Insulting, sure, but I'd pay tall green money to have seen her face when she read it. No, I'm not a nice person.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: My darlings, as a sustaining member of the Anti-Sweetie Coalition, I disapprove of any sarcastic use of any term of endearment on DU no matter who uses it or why.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: While defending the use of the word bitch, it is unwise to call the woman you are responding to "sweetie". It just gives credence to the view that you really are a sexist.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Someone called me "dearie" in another thread today. While I thought it was odd, I don't see how "sweetie" or "dearie" is sexist. It is gender neutral condescension, but not sexist.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
I was Juror #5. And you just reminded me to alert on that jury result...
God, I LOVE the new DU.

Hey Dutch, sweetcheeks, why don't you fetch me a cup of coffee and make me a sandwich. Thanks babe. Don't forget the peach cobbler.

IIRC, 0bama used to use the term 'sweetie' all the time during his campaign.

This was asked in another thread, what's CalPeg going to do? she calls everyone My dear.

I have a habit of calling almost every customer "hun" (for those that may not know...I'm a waitress at Waffle House). I haven't had anyone tell me off about it yet...
-
I was talking with a client the other day and right when I was hanging up he goes "Thanks Babe".........I hung up too quick because I would have said "your welcome sweetcheeks"

Everybody calls everybody hon here. I came here from stiff-as-a-board Connecticut, where it would not be acceptable. I got used to it. No harm is meant by it, for heaven's sake.

REASON FOR ALERT:
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See <a href="http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=aboutus#communitystandards" target="_blank">Community Standards[/url].)
YOUR COMMENTS:
**** is against du rule. Poster could have changed up the words and chose not to.
JURY RESULTS
A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Tue May 15, 2012, 09:36 AM, and voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT ALONE.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: The c-word as a insult is against the rules. The c-word was not used as an insult in this case.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I would have voted to hide this post if poster was calling someone a C-, but he wasn't. This is just a joke with a poor choice of a word
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Word not used to refer to a person. I'll give some leeway here.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Good grief
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given

5. This is why I don't think a zero tolerance policy will work.
It wasn't used as a slur there. And its in the lounge.
It could be interpreted as an attempt to stir shit, but so could a lot of stuff.
