Romney: 'Back In High School, I Did Some Dumb Things'

In a hastily arranged radio interview, Mitt Romney apologized Thursday for pranks he played in high school that "might have gone too far."

The interview came a few hours after The Washington Post published a detailed story recounting incidents from Romney's years at Michigan's prestigious Cranbrook prep school in the 1960s.

This is how ridiculously desperate the Washington Post is to make Barry Big Ears look good.  It's so stupid, I don't even want to bring it over.

He should have spun it something like this:

"I realize that as a youth, I did some stupid things. I remember TPing the coach's house one night, and doing (insert any number of mild pranks). I would like to apologize to those who were hurt by my actions. I hope that the voters don't hold my past episodes of poor judgment against me the same way I don't hold Pres. Obama's past drug use and interactions with Marxists and domestic terrorists against him. I would ask that the voters decide this election solely on the record of actions during our respective careers."

Those are good resume points for the left.  Bullying a faggot in high school is a career ender though.

Oddly, the article says dude was closeted.

So how would Rmoney know he was gay?

Good point, so it was just normal high school high jinx. Another non-story blown out of proportion by the left.

Then again, the timing of this is curious.  Was the left sitting on this until Obama came out of the closet?

A question emerges in reading the Washington Post piece on Mitt Romney today: How can Romney’s old pal Stu White tell the Washington Post that he has “long been bothered by the Lauber incident” — and then later admit to ABC News that he was “not present for the prank” and “was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post”?

This is curious.

The Washington Post story reports: “I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident.”

But ABC News, says: “White was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.”

What are we to make of this?

What are we to make of this?

Nothing, other than continuing to press the attack on Zero and his record on the economy, jobs, and the mounting debt.

Do not allow this kind of character assassination to control the campaign.

I do like one of the comments that said, paraphrased, "I'll worry about this when the MSM publishes something, anything, even a little bit, about Barry's time in college. Really."

So I did a search and just entered Romney. The 2nd item that came up in the "suggestions" was "Romney Bully".

I will not be lectured by the party that re-elected Ted Kennedy term-after-term even though he left a woman to drown.

This is probably a plus for Romney the Staid. Proves he's human, in a relatively harmless way.

It is also, as Chris wrote, such small beer it's microscopic.
