What is he, The King?
Heard on ABC just now in a special bulletin.

I'm gonna cut him some slack on that one. From the context of the comment, he's speaking as an American, not as President.

Understood. As a 10 year Veteran though, I chafe at the notion that I was willing to put my life on the line for a politician. After all, he was being interviewed as the President of the United States. This wasn't an off-the-cuff statement made at a press conference or public event.

Well, as we heard just a little while ago vis a vis Barry and his pro stance on gay marriage, he's not above screwing the pooch and committing his own political gaffes. This one outweighs just about anything that Joe Biden has said -- but Joe is stupid and that's why he says the dumbass stuff he says. Barry's much more calculating, but he'll screw up too.
If I were to be retiring right about now rather than back when Slick Willie was King, I'd most likely hide that retirement certificate rather than have Barry's name on it. That's how much of an insult he is to me.

My retirement certificate is in my file cabinet. It will never go up on the wall.

Yet another reason I'm hanging on. I'd like something to post on my wall when I'm done...

Maybe ya ought to post a copy of the constitution. Barry ain't done trampling on it yet.

Does a military retirement certificate have the signature of the current president, or something?
<<never seen one.

Generated by a machine, yes.

Maybe his views on dictatorship are 'still evolving.'

I swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States...I did NOT swear some kind of fealty or oath of alligence to someone who fancies themselves a wanna-be king!

My retirement was in '09. I asked, very pointedly, that the CINC signature not be there since barry big ears was President. Just so happened that they had some left over with President Bush's signature. So, I have a "thanks for all you did" certificate dated in mid '09 signed by W.

This'll be a bit of a double post, since it's HotAir's "Obamateurism of the Day," but it does lie exactly in with the OP in this thread:
Allahpundit noted in his post about Barack Obama’s endorsement of legalizing gay marriage that a few people on Twitter picked up on this rather crass, self-involved reference to the armed forces:
[see video at the link]
Quote: "When I think about, ah, those soldiers or airmen or Marines, sailors, who are out there fighting on my behalf …" unquote
Whose behalf? They’re not fighting for Barack Obama. They are fighting on behalf of the United States of America. They may have Barack Obama as their Commander in Chief, but they’re not Obama’s private army. It’s the kind of Freudian slip that gives people a little insight into Obama’s arrogance.

As I said earlier in this thread, I give Jugears a pass on this one. I'd say he meant that servicemen and women are fighting on his behalf as an American.
But I reserve the right to be wrong. :-)
