Title: Poor, Stupid Beth Soaks Her Brain With Light And Ions
Post by: GOBUCKS on May 03, 2012, 04:34:29 PM
Earlier, coach started a thread from the DUmp's whine and meta moan forum, wherein some DUmpmonkeys appeal to have that group hidden from non-members.

Now, I think that would be a very bad move. The meta moan forum is one of the funniest of all the DUmp boards, where DUmmies really let their inner lunatic off the leash to run around and play.

Aside from GD, the funniest forums at the DUmp are meta moan, and the loony bin, both of which some DUmmies would like to hide.

Here is a good one from the booby hatch, where poor, stupid Beth has resorted to a "light box" to restore her sanity:

The light box seems to be doing something

because my focus is noticeably better and my energy is better than it has been in a long, long time. I don't have to do it every day, just every other day. Cautiously optimistic.

Every other day is a good idea. You don't want to overdo all those photons and good ions.

Here is the mumbo-jumbo that lured poor, stupid Beth:

The Sun Touch Plus helps neutralize the "bad" positive ions -- such as those emitted by PCs, artificial lighting, forced air ventilation, and modern building materials -- that can make you feel tired and tense.

2. It was just a little $39 one I found at Amazon,

about the size of a gameboy from some company, "gadget technologies". I figured if it didn't work, it wouldn't hurt that way.

But something is happening because I'm doing stuff I haven't done in years now and without over-analyzing, it seems to be because some part of my brain is working better or is awake or something.

Poor, stupid Beth's brain is working better, or awake, or something? I'm gonna go with "something".

3. Good for you... When it works, there is usually a signficant change.

4. I'm impressed because haven't had this kind of change without meds

either in the direction of allaying anxiety or of lifting depression. And it isn't just the more light from Spring because that hasn't been enough for the last few years to do more than make me wish I had focus and energy.

So. We'll see.

There has been less light the last few years at spring time?

I thought with GlowBall Warmin', there would be more light, wouldn't there, Beth?

Sometimes ya just wanna call the clown car!

One way to check is to gauge your admiration for Latin American dictators, if you find yourself less infatuated with Hugo today, then you might be on the road to recovery.

To make sure I understand, Beth can't get enough natural sunlight - yet lives (more-or-less) in the desert, right ?

That's pretty much my take, Misk!

I guess that poor stupid beth and the rest of the DUmbasses probably don't understand that the lights that they are talking about wouldn't even keep a fish alive.

As has been noted, they need to carry their carcass outside for a bit.

Dear poor, stupid Beth, those photons and ions will not penetrate any deeper than 'Facts' or 'Information' do, your skull is equally impervious to all of that stuff.

Regards, your followers at CC.

These light boxes go back in time to the IIRC to the late 1800's- 1920's or so.   About the time the big fad of spiritualists came about,  those spirit board we still play with and table knocking.

PT BARNUM a sucker born every minute is no joke.    I have bought cheap magnets out of curiosity, copper bracelets etc.  Nothing over $5.00 but the makers who sold them made a fortune on folks like me that dollar by dollar made them rich.

Fad in the late 1980's to mid 1990" were the Healing stones, remember the Chrystal Skulls, and the rise of Herb stores to cure your anxiety or athletes feet?????  Ancient Chinese secret, acupressure and acupuncture that had well educated Doctors headed to China to learn.  Some swear by the ideas of the past, surprise some of them actually work.

The rise of Ocular specialists is on the rise with interesting results.  There may be something to this as Doctors can tell with their little light shining into the eye any problems you may have in other parts of the body.------No license needed to practise this new world medicine, any problem they find can be an alert to you to ether go to a MD or spend money to take Herbal mixtures of some kind of weeds you never heard of.

Light boxes make me think of tanning beds, fastest way to get cancer of the skin I know of.

I think I understood it!   :panic:  God help me, please.

I had a friend in CT who was a sucker for all that stuff.  She would buy it, and let me borrow it, so it was a no-cost experiment.  For example, those magnets.  They're supposed to, IIRC, relieve pain.  They did no such thing.  What about that bracelet they're advertising on TV?  What's that supposed to do?

Nope this is praying on all people that are desperate for help when today's medicine cannot help them.

Don't matter the political ideas the have, when a family member or self is at the end of medical help, people will do Anything that can help them, who was the movie actor that went to Mexico to have peach pits shoved up his ass ?

Explain the believers that travel the world to either bath or worship at a shrine in belief they will be cured on site of ailments.

Desperate people will do the unthinkable, any kind of cocomania idea is worth trying.    Can't hurt and gives false hope that is better then NO hope to people.

People head to the church and Pray while lighting candles to send their prayers to God.

Some leave dead chickens on the doors of a hospital, some sit for hours drumming to get the attention of God.

It is desperation that sends in the scam artists with their light boxes.  What the hell it can't hurt.

I will tell you Rebel, when my new born was dieing, I was desperate, I called in every Military Chaplin to bless her, and would have dragged in a voodoo man prancing about with face mask and feathers.

In a remarkable situation here, a female doctor with matching blood gave my baby a full blood transfusion with HER blood.  -----To this day I do not know if this was the remarkable actions as a Doctor, or God that saved her life.

Had some one told me I had to eat cat shit to save her life, I would have been squeezing all cats I could find.   Desperation, had I been told to wear a metal food strainer on my head and run naked through the streets, I with no thought would have done it.

When medical science cannot help, this is where the schemers come in with their snake oil and what ever.  People loose their minds when they cannot do anything to help a loved one,  they become open to ANY suggestion no matter how bazaar or totally against common sense.  The feel that there is a possibility no mater how small that Something will work.

The power of Placebos we know, if we believe something will work often it does.    The mind is a powerful thing, to truly believe a copper bracelet will remove all pain, for some  reason it may really do so.  Like hypnoses, the brain is Awesome and if one believes often the body also believes and follows.

As long as people are paying for acupuncture, chiropractic, herbal, aromatherapy, psychics, alternative, and holistic medicine, then anything goes.

Even with access to the most scientific and effective medical science in human history, a segment of the population is a half-step from witchcraft.

And they'll argue the worth of their favorite quackery with the fervor and smug confidence of a committed ronbot.

I felt he same way until my BIL became disabled to the point he could not bend over to put his key into his truck to turn it on.   Poor dude was all bent over and could barely walk.   I must say I have never see anything like this.

Hubby had to go into the bathroom to get his brother out of the tub,  really bad.   So the BIL had to be taken to  physical therapy for a couple weeks and the poor man was not getting any better.

We had to take days off from work to take him with loss of pay and finally Hubby dragged him to a chiropractic Dr he had been referred to.   Hell of a mess , getting the old guy to go, but as I sat at home worrying my ass off the the door openend and the BIL walked in , no stoop, no pain and could move about better then normal.

What this Doctor did to him moving about his spine and body in an hour was a AMAZING.   A graduate of I believe Palmer college,  Holy crap had I not seen it with mine own eyes I would not have believed it.

The Chiropractic practice is full of strange people that may do more harm then good----However find a good one and they can save your life.  Some uses there hands to crack a back a back or neck, however there are devices some use to to gently move the bones back into place and now hands on cracking with brute strength  that is not regulated.

I believe that anyone that goes to a four year medical school has to know what they are doing,  they also have interest in the rest of the body, check out the qualifications of any Chiropractics and make sure they have a DR. after their name and not just have an associates degree from a school that also trains people in sports massage.
