Title: Who Was This Person? #16
Post by: Eupher on May 03, 2012, 03:50:13 PM
He was born in an area formerly belonging to Denmark, now a part of Sweden. He founded a concert series that began the fifth Sunday before Christmas and lasted for 137 years.

The year and country of his birth are both disputed. He studied music with his father, Johann, who had a great influence on him. He died during the mid-Baroque era and was well respected and renowned, particularly in Germany.

While popular in his day, he faded into oblivion until the last few decades.

Who is this man and which musical instrument did he play?
