Russia, the eternal beacon of liberty, equality and prosperity.

Russia feels threatened by a defensive system incapable of stopping it own vast nuclear missile forces.

Russia's Military Threatens Preemptive Strike If NATO Goes Ahead With Missile Plan

Russia's top military officer has threatened to carry out a pre-emptive strike on U.S.-led NATO missile defense facilities in Eastern Europe if Washington goes ahead with its controversial plan to build a missile shield.

President Dmitry Medvedev said last year that Russia will retaliate militarily if it does not reach an agreement with the United States and NATO on the missile defense system.

Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov went even further Thursday. "A decision to use destructive force pre-emptively will be taken if the situation worsens," he said at an international conference attended by senior U.S. and NATO officials.

3. Russia knows that the missile defense shield is not about Iranian missiles. nt

Iran may have a few dozen nukes in the next few years. Russia has thousands.

BTW - how come you commie fags never bitch about the thousands of nukes Russia maintains without any threat from the West?

6. So now we know

US and Israel are not the only two powers that can take pre-emptive strikes if they feel threatened.

Pre-emptive against a defense system?

I guess wearing body armor is an excuse to shoot at someone now.

8. The MIC would love nothing more than good old fashioned conventional war with Russia

If it could somehow turn into a world war involving Iran and China, they'd be absolutely orgasmic.

Russia threatens war but the US "MIC" is to blame.

No, no, it's perfectly okay to question their patriotism...well, it would be, if they actually had any for the US.

And threatening to respond with 'Military action' can encompass a vast range of actions short of a preemptive strike, including plenty that don't involve shooting at all.

The Ruskies would be well advised to "respond" with non-military means.

Just because their defense industry can come up some marginally intersting systems, it certainly does not mean they can afford to purchase any of it.

Are you forgetting who currently resides in the White Mosque at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?   Any threat from Russia or China has Obama pissing his pants and shaking at the knees.   He'll collapse like a kids sand castle caught in a hurricane.

I believe that someone would take over if Prezzy folded when the nukes start flying.  If for no other reason then the self preservation of themselves or the country.

I doubt our "friends" in Russia will do a damn thing before November. After all, we haven't outfitted our friends in Europe yet, so they don't have a reason to be ****in' morons.

Correct - Its saber rattling - and Russia is making it clear that they think Obama is weak.

I can't say I blame them - Obama is weak, and they are taking the opportunity while they have it.

Before anyone gets too spun up, remember this was a Russian press report, which are about as crazy as English tabloids, i.e. they make al-Jizz look like responsible journalism by comparison.  And even if Medvedev really said 'Military action,' that includes things like deploying new systems or moving ships and units around the map to rattle their sabers without actually taking things into the realm of conflict.

It's been a long time since the Ruskies made any kind of statement like that.
Almost sort of refreshing to see them back in the game. :-)

If the Russkis aren't careful, they're going to be on the receiving end of a crushing apology.

Hey, come on now. Obama just needs a little space till after November. Then he can do the full bidding of Putin. Reduce our nukes 80% or more, get rid of the missile shield, etc.

Nah just passed on a message that he's have "more flexibility" after the election.

"More flexibility" = able to bend over better for Putin

You may have noticed that declarations of patriotism have pretty much disappeared at the DUmp.

Back during W's first term, DUmmies constantly insisted their patriotism was so strong it caused them to hate the president, his entire administration, the American armed forces, and anyone who supported them, along with all American allies.

They were so patriotic, they expressed admiration and support for anyone who opposed or attacked America.

That's all changed; now they swear allegiance only to the jug-eared muslim.
